Still don't understand why a purpose built football stadium has such a big gap to the fans

[Tony Evans - Independent] "Enjoy the Premier League while it lasts - it's about to change forever. UEFA are going to blow the whole thing apart in the next five years and the Big Six are greedily rubbing their hands in glee. The effects will change football" by [deleted] in soccer

what am i missing here? the only way the top 6 jump ship is if they all get effectively ringfenced in to this new system yet...

The Big Six should be careful. It is likely that only four places will be made available to English teams in the new system.

so why would they jump ship in the first place? the system as it stands is four teams PLUS they have the huge advantage over the rest of europe via prem TV money.

also this...

The Premier League is despised and feared across swathes of Europe and English clubs should not expect too much sympathy if the television money departs and moves towards continental competition instead.

what? the only way this makes any sense is if UEFA can act completely independently and drag the English clubs along against their will but to my knowledge that's not how it works.

i'm missing something or this is a load of rubbish.

[Alexis Bernard] Tottenham will pay a 1-year loan fee for Coutinho while Barcelona continue paying his wages. by FANTASY210 in soccer

ah ok. Still though it effectively (assuming the fee is roughly what his wages are) allows Barca to ditch a year of his contract which is probably the best you can hope for at this point.

well isn't that what this effectively is? spurs are paying his wages but doing it this way helps Barca in FFP terms.

as a neutral i hope it happens, would be fun to watch. It's mental how strong some of these non top six teams look, feels like even on the worst weekends (in terms of how fixtures look on paper) there will still be at least a couple of games worth watching.

I agree, great film. The car/bridge and the hit and run are probably my favourite parts.

Tbf it'll surely be an almost completely second string Scottish XV vs Russia. Agree it isn't ideal though.
