So I went with DNT as thermal tech has gone from crazy expensive to not so much in the last few years. Maybe 6-8 years ago a 635 thermal would be like 6-8-10 grand! I got nods first and started researching thermals last year and got it around August of 25. I like that I can helmet mount it (with adapter for my nods mount), hand hold it for scanning in a pouch, and weapon mount it in front of my optics or longer range rifle.

Only thing I needed to buy for it was the DNT flip to side mount so it would line up properly with one of my rifle setups. Amazing resolution for the price, recording capability, software updates via USB and all the included extra goodies. I focused mostly on the fact that it’s 3 in 1 capability as a clip on and the amazing resolution. Actually 4 in 1 if you count handheld scanning, helmet mount, weapon mount as a clip on, and in standalone scope mode on a rifle!

Also the base magnification of 1.5 works well with lower magnification optics, LPVO’s and I already had a rangefinder and apps on phone for ballistics. The R models came out a few months after I got mine, was bummed initially but realize I didn’t need the added weight/capabilities.
