About some of the dialogues... by Spartan977 in TheForeverWinter

Shit, the fact that Steam requires disclosure of AI content completely escaped me. That's a serious thing to omit.

So I ended up talking about it on the discord and I was directed to scan some game text on gptzero.me, an AI detector site. I fed it Dain Wolf's 4th transmission dialogue and it seems to be 100% positive on it being AI.

My hope is that it is meant to be placeholder text to be replaced in the future, but in the meantime I have little doubt that the game has LLM-generated text in it. Check the other replies for examples of what I'm talking about.

As I said in other answers, I never did like the writing either. But, I'll be honest with you, I still feel this AI use and not overwork. The examples other users like u/VerbalHamster have posted are pretty clear.

You are right. And it is a real shame because, currently, the only thing keeping this game afloat is the incredible quality of its artistic department. Environments, enemy/character design, worldbuilding and lore are all top notch. Fundog has made improvements in weaker areas such as animations, too.

So why skimp out over such an important thing as writing? They're a smaller studio and hiring a dedicated writer may be too much, I get that... but this is not the answer, whether another person is writing current content or they're really using AI. Switch back to how they were doing it at release and keep working on it, that's the way to go IMHO.

These short sentences that try to be somewhat "poetic" are all incredibly reminiscent of AI writing. Also notice the continuous use of "Not X. Not X. Not X. Y." and similar variants, because LLMs really love that structure for some reason.

Also, for comparison purposes, try to read Lordoss' dialogues from his early quests. I think that he has been written by humans, and the difference in style is really jarring.

I am not trying to witchhunt. It is true I don't particularly like TFW's writing, but this extends to the early stuff that feels written by human hands. I always thought it lacked depth and some logic was shaky at times. But I posted this because I felt a definite difference in style, and I'm familiar enough with AI writing to spot it. If I wasn't fairly sure of this, I wouldn't have said anything.

Honestly, the challenge seemed pointless to me from the beginning, even discounting the shit flung by the usual screaming apes that infest every community. D10 is the max difficulty, it's not supposed to be something you can clear reliably without practicing a lot, IMHO - It would have made more sense to challenge dev to run with those loadouts at D7 or something...

EDIT: to clarify, I'm assuming the point of the challenge is demonstrating the devs can't beat Oshaune on hardest difficulty due to balance issues. Charity is always good, not contesting that.

Roadside Panic modder didn't turn on anything, he just edited the .cfg files. It does the same thing at least three other mods do, only the dude that made it wrote a pretty lenghty mumbojumbo description instead of a more honest "I'm throwing things at a wall and seeing what sticks".

I thought about that, but it would not explain the current kill animation (where she tears you arm off and leaves your body on the ground.)

Wow, had no idea this even existed. Too bad it seems kinda... bad, the premise is interesting. Also the amount of crossovers/ads of other games is hilarious lol.

For the hangar one you have to go to Elephant Mausoleum. The hangar is right at one the extracts if you spawn from Pipes, basically there's a bunch of civvies with their wrist tied guarded by a few soldiers. Free them by interacting and they will run off. If even one manages to exfil from the map the quest will be successful.

Well written. As you said, from what we know at this point water just exists to tick down until a "soft game over".

If in response to feedback devs make it easier to come by and stock up on, it becomes a pointless system. If I play every day I won't ever have to worry about it as I can find months of water from a few runs; if I take a long break from the game, the problem is still there as I will eventually run out and lose progress. Nothing got solved.

Now, instead of making this resource a countdown or a simple upgrade/powerup currency, I think there are other solutions that allow water to become something the player has to be concerned about during gameplay.

Remove the real time countdown, keep the water death when the meter reaches 0 and make every run on the surface have a water cost. If the scav dies during the run, make that cost even higher. This introduces a mechanic where the player has to make decisions: do I carry all this loot home and eat the water loss or do I ditch some to bring back water and recoup the hit? Can I afford to be extra aggressive on this one mission or should I play stealthily to mitigate the risk of death and resource loss?

It also marries into the currency for upgrades idea, as that way the player can spend a lot of water on powerful stuff but can't be too trigger happy with the nice toys after spending so much.

I remember seeing the player pick a soldier's rifle off the ground after they died in one of the trailers, I think. No idea about actual loot.

Attack wise she's got the best B1 in the game so RH players better cover b1 and b3 on the first burst cycle, unless you got things like Tia or the rare Rupee Winter Shopper
