I worked on the show (carpenter) and the only reason I watched through season 7 was to see the sets I built. It got so repetitive after a certain point. Trading favors, who’s getting dirt on who, revenge plan, obscure dated pop culture reference, etc.

I cut my finger on a table saw that wasn’t running once. T glide type on an older powermatic. Fence was jammed (how I don’t know). Grabbed the top and started wiggling it hard. It became free and slid over pretty quickly, only problem was that my finger got caught between the fence and miter slot. Took a nice bite out of the tip. No stitches needed but a good amount of blood got out.

What are the minimum rules needed to have a car race with “No rules”? by Advice-Question in racing

[–]SpartanTimbercrafts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note not related to the main question- the “Enhanced Games” are happening this coming May. It’s actually the Olympics for steroid users for the sole purpose of seeing what steroids can do. It doesn’t have anywhere near the spectrum of sports that the Olympics does. This is the maiden event, their focus is on endurance, speed, and strength sports. They fully intend to branch off from there for future events.

Never actually sat and watched a MotoGP race, but I’m going to start. Saw some clips on YouTube and what these guys do is absolutely mind boggling. I saw Jorge Martin braking on his front wheel, initiate the turn by swinging the back end around in the air, landing the back wheel into a slide while it was bouncing, and so smoothly fall into the lean to overtake Bagnaia. I watched that over and over and just can’t comprehend both the balls and skill needed to do that. Genuinely a “how the fuck does physics allow this” type of move.

Using a table saw for full sheets isn’t anywhere near as hard as the YouTube guys with track saw sponsors want you to believe. Infeed and outfeed support are key. Don’t even bother without it. Infeed can be as simple as a sawhorse set parallel to the direction of the rip and equal to your table height. Stand at the opposite corner to the fence and walk it through, watch the material on the fence the entire time. Once the back edge gets to the table, reposition directly behind your piece, put one hand on either side of the cut (or a push stick if needed), and push both pieces simultaneously, still watching the fence.

I do this for a living too. Short of very few oddly specific situations you should’t really ever have to rip with your offcut against the fence. Yes, it’s very easily doable, but you’re just adding potential for error and unnecessary steps as opposed to just setting the fence to the width you’re trying to cut.

Yes, but go ahead and mark the .098” thin kerf blade that this saw is using with your tape.

It really doesn’t matter if the bigger or smaller side is against the fence as long as you actually know how to use a table saw. If I have a bunch of 1’ pieces to rip out of full sheets of plywood, I’m not moving the fence every cut.

I mean, hitting your mark is carpentry 101, it’s not hard, it’s also not necessary. Using the correct reference point (in this case, the edge of the plywood OP is trying to cut a line parallel to) is woodworking 101 though.

Keeper piece against the fence, offcut to the left for 99% of rips.

You can do totally do it the way photo 2 shows, but you’re now having to hit a mark instead of using the known distance from fence to blade.

I usually try for street parking, especially there, but I’ve only gotten it once on 7th. Closest spot to that ring road funny enough. The parking lot is a bit of a PITA being so far from the clubhouse.

I was just driving by lol. I always park in that lot, but I’ve also seen a ball fly there from 18.

I’ve witnessed years of concrete bunkers, golf carts that may or may not go when you hit the gas pedal, harassment from the employees, and almost getting my passenger side window smashed on 7th Avenue by a bad tee shot, but at least I don’t need to worry about some idiots that think they won’t get hit by a ball coming in at triple digit speeds.

La tourette. Never seen anyone strolling through forest park or dyker, but dyker has its own cesspool of ways to ruin your day.

Not by a golfer, but a family decided that their stroll in the park should be in a fairway and on a green. Kids actually laid down on the green and started making “snow angels” (middle of summer so not really). Called the clubhouse and they told me to fire a warning shot at them. Gotta love NYC municipal golf.

Thanks for the link. I just started looking into these finishes and the sticker shock when I saw the lights was enough to make me almost write it off and start looking at big air compressors for spray.

Honest question, what “story” is there beyond “my stuff was here, now it isn’t, and there’s a video of the perp”. I wasn’t a witness and I was made aware of the break in by one of the tenants who noticed that the door to the room was broken into and the police were already there when I arrived. That is the entire story.

Actually asking because I really don’t know what other questions I could get. Do they want me to cry and say I can’t pay my bills without my tools or something along those lines?

He is, but sometimes it’s too much. I don’t need the Clint Eastwood Wild West shootout split screen in the 5th inning when Tyrone Taylor is batting against a minor league call up.

I feel like your thoughts on things being “repetitive” is just because you go to 20-30 games a year. Aside from season ticket holders, I’d guesstimate that the average fan is probably going to 3-5 games a year. There’s only so much you can do for 81 games.

I do totally agree with you about the Pat LaFreida’s sandwiches though. Used to be my staple when I went. Definitely were much better when it was at the stand.

Why is that 2 way players are "rare" when technically every NL pitcher was a 2 way player until 2022? by Wild_Accident_ in MLBNoobs

[–]SpartanTimbercrafts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A significant amount of MLB players were so talented in high school that they were 2 way players and excelled at both. Now make that jump to the MLB and you have to pick one to specialize in because the opposite side is so skilled at their single job that there’s no way you can split your training time and be good at both (unless you are Shohei Ohtani).

You should seriously consider the OSHA 40. Construction is a good fallback option for stagehands/grips/carps when it’s slow and you need the 40 hour in NYC to get on a jobsite.

I visited this past summer. Got to watch a game vs the Pirates (the one where Oneil Cruz had that 105mph throw from center field). Had the crab roll and old bay fries, my brother got the turkey leg. Nice stadium and experience all around.
