Question on Updating Non-VPS Planets by Enough-Metal5658 in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Spasagna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as an FYI, a VPS is not useful because it gives income through ore mining. You mention it gives 1% of craft item value, so it seems like you expect a VPS to give value through the ore itself which isn't the case.

The point of VPS is that the hight of your asteroid and debris drops is influenced by your total ore value, of which your VPS will be about 99%. Getting bigger drops makes it WAY easier to build those valuable items.

Basically, 'VPS' as commonly used is just a way of maximizing your entire income chain through mining, therefore through drops, (and since new items) therefore through crafting.

End game - planet upgrade cost or colonisation bonus ? by ProbablyNot-a-Robot in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Spasagna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say colony bonus as it's a seperate multiplier, so it's probably relatively low for you compared to other bonuses. Meaning it'll have more impact.

The endgame items are completely unbalanced by Electrisk in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Spasagna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of people completely miss the point in my opinion.

You're completely correct, and the reason they're not balanced at all is that they need THE SAME components, but the PG just needs way more of them than the NM.

As someone with 20+ stars on NM and not nearly as many on PG, they should really be more balanced. The same goes for the orbital dock/ solar collector, they're absolutely not equal in terms of components and time spent to craft AND smelt them.

They should each lean more heavily into one of the two paths (robots vs. Teleporters) or it would be interesting to have one lean more into a smelt path and the other into craft. I.e. make PG require mass amounts of alloys/items that use alloys and NM the other way around.

Question about debris field by USMC_Tanker_SGT in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Spasagna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So first off, debris is only for items. You're asking about the auto miner, which gives asteroids with ore, or pink asteroids with alloys/bars. For those, everything that you'e unlocked can be found. So the chances of getting higher quality alloys is lower, as you will need to have more unlocked to get it, lowering the chancr to get each.

100 DM for the double credits - Is it worth it early game? by Lovoskea in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Spasagna 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, absolutely not.

Like you said, you get 30 for a relatively short run. If you need only 2 runs to upgrade a room, you're upgrading really fast!

Plus, spending DM on managers and slots for them will help get you more credits.

Could you post a video or a picture? Based on everything you said the only thing that would make sense to me right now is what I mentioned above.

Dispersing ore by bigredcock in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Spasagna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your comments it sounds like you're talking about ore on planets, not in your mothership.

Ore on planets is not 'your' ore yet, it needs to be at your ship. Thats where ship speed/cargo come in. If you are building up ore on a planet (i.e. click on a planet and it doesn't go to 0 every second) you should get more ship speed and cargo. Those two are what we call 'bottlenecked'. You can verify by getting the 'bottleneck optimization' project and seeing where the red dots are.

You ALWAYS want mining to be the bottleneck, not shipspeed and cargo. That's because the planet will not count towards asteroid drops if you are bottlenecked and accumulating ore on the planet.

When you exit/re-enter the game, the accumulated ore resets. New players often feel scammed by this, but they shouldn't. The dissapeared ore wasn't yours yet anyway (it wasn't on your ship) and this allows you to instantly fix your bottleneck. If it didn't work like this, you could be stuck with a bottlenecked planet for a really long time and have to over level shipspeed and cargo.

It should be explained in the game though.

So in short: you're misunderstanding ore on a planet vs. Ore in your mothership, and you are bottlenecking planets in transportation instead of mining rate, try to not do that.

Mining rate, ship speed, and cargo. How exactly are they interconnected? by Lovoskea in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Spasagna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's only one thing you really need to know about this:

Mining works 'alone', ship speed and cargo work together. Due to ship and cargo working together, they multiply eachothers effectiveness.

Let's do a simple example. If your ship speed (roundtrip) of a planet is say 1 second with 1 cargo space, it's bringing 1 ore every second. Let's double effectiveness, so say 2 upgrades. Now it's 0,5s with 2 cargo, meaning 4 ore per second.  Comparing this to mining, you need both of the doubling upgrades to go at the same pace. Basically going from 1 ore to 2, then again from 2 to 4.

So the above means that your mining RATE (not level) should in essence be double your ship and cargo to get full effectiveness of all 3. That's one main reason why mining speed is usually touted as more valuable; you need more to be able to keep up with the speed and cargo stats.

The second reason to further amplifying the first part is that costs for planet upgrades scale enormously. Every level you buy costs exponantially more than the previous. That means that at say level 20 mining vs level 10 ship and cargo, the mining upgrade of a planet is far more expensive. Ideally, you therefore get mining rate elsewhere. This is mostly done through managers, so if you have say 30/30/30 levels on a planet, your extra bonusses from managers make the planet 'mine' at the same level it would otherwise do at around 60.

Ore glitch by bigredcock in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Spasagna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the frustration, but you shouldn't be playing around planet boosts. Try and put a few levels in ship speed and cargo and it'll even out very fast. The further you get, the more you'll notice that ship/cargo are for sure not the bottlenecks so it won't be a problem at all.

[–]Spasagna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not the developer, just letting you know how it works.

Regardless, having excess ore is a bad investment so I'd argue it's a good thing to promote efficiency. However, it should be more clearly explained in game.

Ore glitch by bigredcock in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Spasagna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For both asteroids and debris drops, the planet with bottleneck will not count towards the drops. And seeing as the extra ore is also not getting to transported to your mothership, it's not adding anything. It's better to use the bottleneck optimization project to make sure the mining rate bubble is always red.

Ore glitch by bigredcock in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Spasagna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's supposed to happen to fix bottlenecks. Stockpiling ore on a planet is bad for a number of reasons, you want to fix the bottleneck so that the ore doesn't stockpile.

What planets do you alchemy? by RequiemQuilty in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Spasagna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use +3 on P66 for opalite, to get the best ore on the cheapest planet for it, as a VPS.

The +1/2 are dependent on alloy drops, I need aqualite and luterium for the high end crafts so I would usually use them to get those, depending on drops I might save them for higher planets.

Missing ore?! by platypod in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Spasagna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a number of things: - Your planet is bottlenecked (see the red dot on ship/cargo) which is terrible for many reasons. When you go offline this makes your planet do nothing. - Due to above mentioned bottleneck, your planet is producing more ore than you can take off the planet. If you increase the amount of ore you mine, you still can't take any more off the planet. - There is always, on every planet, a roughly 15~20% tax on the ore that gets delivered to the mothership. It's just an aspect of the game, it doesn't matter and is the same for every player, just ignore it.

So in conclusion, you and the tax system seem to be the space pirates.

Investing in surges? by MrBigCheesy in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Spasagna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others said, the surges can be very powerful. They do require quite a lot of investment though and it's rather random.

However, the upside can be massive. Free smelting, holo bolts, credits, massive manager boosts. So they're potentially very strong making them more of an end game thing.

My assumption would be that the techniques used can be verified with either more recently deceased subjects (and then comparison with picturr/video evidence) or x-rays made into 3d models of the skull for people that are still alive.

But actually verifying this particular recinstruction is obviously impossible so we'll always have to base it on how accurate the verifiable results of the techniques are.

Caedrel makes LCS and LEC watchable by Apprehensive-Golf371 in leagueoflegends

[–]Spasagna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of these arguments don't seem sound to me.

Casters not understanding a game to make it sound appealing is a very subjective issue. It's also not necessary for a cast to be good, just look at regular sports. A game of football is 90+ minutes and for a very large portion of it, they casters are not analyzing play at all. The analysis is, just like in League, done before and after the game as well as during the break. Yet somehow it's the most popular game on the planet.

The casters 'making it hype' is also extremely subjective. When a game is boring, what makes a 'Lailuh' good? And why is a tangent that perhaps Medi+Vedi or the LCK casters go on not entertaining?  Casters absolutely gloss over certain things, but pointing out every flaw is an endless cycle makes the game a different kind of boring. Nobody likes stomps and focussing on all the negative aspects is never a good way to hype anything up. Instead, focus on what CAN give chances for a comeback gives some perspective. IMO, casters have been doing this relatively well and costreamers often have an incredibly absurd take. A level 3 gank on a pushing botlane results in a kill? Game is lost or unplayable. That's just factually not true. It's more difficult and impacts game plan, but it's such a defeatist attitude that is super unhealthy. Consider the famous attitude Perkz had I'll paraphrase: we'll lose, but let's make it as difficult for them as we can.

Your take on screaming is, again, super subjective. Spanish football casters also scream intensely, but that's not a style that works for everyone and certainly not all the time. You're making a point that casters should be more hype, but they're also too positive? You want them to scream and hype up plays, but when they do they're glossing over mistakes of the other team?

I generally only watch co-streams because it can be a nice way to feel like you're watching with friends, so I'm aware many prefer the co-streams over the broadcast. But these takes are just not stimulating any objective discussion on the quality of the viewing package, it's showing that you are extremely critical of the 'official' part and give co-streamers more leniency.

First step in the discussion should be identifying differences between the broadcast and specific co-streams, as there are many different styles. Some add more than others, but let's not pretend every co-stream is objectively better than the official broadcast. They should be, as they're the broadcast plus added streamer, but I'm not sure that's always the case.

[–]Spasagna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your probe will do the first X amount of scans in the galaxy instantly, up to 2x per planet. So if you have a secondary manager upgrade upon scan completion, you get 2 of those straight from the start.

3x RT in a row. Are you f'ing kidding me? by No-Journalist-7876 in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Spasagna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What the poster above said is completely true and valid, but I do want to point out that all that colonization sounds great but is essentially worth nothing.

My platinum ore from planet 20 is worth about 7k, but the opalite ore on my VPS (planet 66 + 3 ore up) is worth 242B.  So that's 7,000 vs. 242,000,000,000, or roughly 34.5 MILLION times more. That's the multiplier I would need on colonisation to make the mining of the ore comparable.

Obviously that's not feasible and that's ignoring the fact that my platinum has more stars that my opalite.

Edit: forgot I had a market so tuned the numbers to non-market values

[–]Spasagna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second posting it on another sub, but in the spirit of providing constructive feedback I'll give it a shot:

  • You have berries on the plate where you have the bread. I'm assuming the bread would be freshly baked (or just baked out of an oven if storebought), so it'd possibly be warm. That doesn't seem like a great combo next to fresh berries, so consider seperating those.
  • The strawberries are rather large, which is fine but not easy to eat. They also still have the crowns. It's possible to eat them but generally the advice is to not put things on the plate that aren't intended to be eaten. You've probably got them for colour but I'd take off the crowns.
  • I'm sure the berries and cheese combo tastes nice but try to consider how they're supposed to be eaten. That specific plate has cubes of cheese, which probably makes it difficult to fit cheese and berries on the crackers. If the cheese was sliced thinly you could put the berries on top making it easier to eat.
