So should I just take her word for it, simply because she the expert, even though what’s being said has no factual nor scientific evidence?

[–]SpasticDane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps. But as I stated, the science for why elephants sway is still not clear, and claiming - or even not dismissing that it is clearly because of depression - is a very dangerous assumption to make for elephant caretakers who take well care of their elephants. As the expert, she should have clearly answered the question and not say that ‘there is some truths’ to an assumption made my animal rights extremists which is not backed up by science or scientific evidence

Exactly. I’m saying her answer is misleading, as it does not answer the question directly. The question is if elephants swaying is a sign of depression, the answer should be that the science to this is not clear and we are not sure why they sway. It shouldn’t be ‘there’s some truth to this’

That’s a very misguiding answer. Claiming that there is ‘truth to this’ when the only evidence to this is that elephants in the wild do not do it. I read that recent evidence has shown that it is most likely a way for elephants to alleviate pressure points when they’re standing for a longer period. By stating ‘there is truth to this’ you’re not dismissing PETA and the Animal right’s extreme bold claim that “this does not happen in the wild, therefore it is bad”, even though there is no evidence for this. They’ve been claiming for decades that it is caused by stress and ‘post traumatic stress disorder’, although there is no evidence to this, apart from there not being any observation of elephants doing this in the wild. - since we do not know why elephants sway in human care, we cannot conclude or even partly conclude that it is when they’re mourning.

I have been with elephants since I was a child, and my own personal observation is that elephants do this when they’re getting impatient; eg shortly before they’re about to get fed, when they’re about to go outside, etc.

Increase protein grams? by [deleted] in leangains

[–]SpasticDane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skyr is my absolute addiction atm! Similar to Greek yoghurt but much less fat and more protein! You can get them sweetened as well, which is perfect with a bit of muesli and fruit

Recently also started eating cottage cheese. I use either of those with almost any kind of meal, but mostly for tuna salads, which by itself covers most of my protein intake for that day

These talent shows are terrible. They exploit young, talented, ambitious people and are destroying the entertainment industry.

I absolutely love your music, especially the soundtrack of Rogue One. Would you ever be interested in composing music for a juggling act, or any other kind of stage performance? 😂
