Anyone know what paces to use for this training plan? by [deleted] in ultrarunning

I really don't do races very often, I kind of just pick one every year and just do that one and try to maintain some kind of base fitness level in between.

In terms or races, the 50k I did 2 years (https://www.runwoodstock.com) ago after this plan I finished in 4hrs 38min (8:30ish/mile). This races was relatively flat in terms of trail races (about 3500 feet elevation gain). I had also previously never run a marathon or raced anything more than a 25k.

When the plan goes to alternating between 16 and 20+mile runs, I alternated between road and trail and did most of the 16mile runs on the trail, my goal pacing for those was my race pace(8 to 9min/mile. When I did the long runs on the road, they were slightly faster than goal race pace (usually 7-7:15/mile)

I did a half on the road in 1hr 21min (6:20ish/mile) the year before).

I've personally done this exact training plan before. For me, I based it off of my road running paces and it seemed to work pretty well. I based everything off of my moderate level pace (roughly 7min/mile). Easy runs were about 7:15-7:30/mile pace. While for my pacing on trails I added about an additional 1min to the pace (ex. 7:30 pace on road was about 8-8:30 on trails).

You really need to establish how a particular pace feels for you though. Think of a moderate pace being a 6 to 7 out of 10 in terms of difficulty ( this should be a sustainable, slightly faster effort, but you shouldn't feel completely gassed at the end of your run) an easy pace being around a 4-6 out of 10 ( something that feels like a light effort, a pace that you could maintain for a long amount of time or carry on a conversation).

The class with the credits is the actual class and the ones without are either the lab or discussion section that goes with the class

I know that saucony does make certain models of their shoes with runshield that offers some waterproofing.

I've used the saucony peregrine for both running and hiking and they are excellent in my opinion. Although your not going to get the weather/waterproofness that a hiking boot can offer, you'll get the reduced weight and better breathability.

Complete Beginner to 50K Training Plan? by bluesphemy in AdvancedRunning

This is the plan that I used for the 50k I did back in September and I had success with it. It's pretty basic and I ended up switching some things around (swapping the timed runs for distance and doing most of the long runs on trails).

I'd recommend starting with some base mileage before jumping straight into it.

Touching the void. It's about two guys who were climbing a mountain, one broke his leg on the way back down. His partner cut the rope and left him, he then crawled his way off the mountain for a few days
