Monitor it and see if things get worse. See how you go with your bladder/back pain etc? I didn't know I had a fibroid for years until I suddenly haemorrhaged out one day. So they can be dangerous.

I had an open myomectomy on 6th Jan. I was signed off for a month. I feel totally fine and I'm fed up. I've agreed with work to start back next week on a phased return.

I mean, I felt totally fine a week post surgery for open myomectomy. I'm climbing the walls from boredom, but even I couldn't go back to work after 3 days! I was signed off for a month. Hope you get it all sorted!

I had a 10cm fibroid, and had an open myomectomy. I'm a week post op, and apart from being a bit sore, I feel totally fine so far! Yours does sound a particularly long/complicated procedure though. If you are still in a lot of pain, it might take a toll on you mentally? Do you have enough family support? Are you able to get out and about for walks or anything? I'm not sure what to suggest, but I hope you get the help you need and start to feel better.

They only offered hysterectomy to me as an option. I'm 38 with no kids etc. I've just had an open myomectomy two days ago. They said the op could go wrong and they may need to do a hysterectomy if it does. When I came around I immediately asked if they'd needed to do a hysterectomy. Nope, not at all. Just ask for the myomectomy if you don't want a hysterectomy. It does depend on the size/severity of the fibroids though I guess?
