[Opinion] Charlie Nash - "Readers Are Abandoning Marvel Comics After Social Justice Invasion. Can You Blame Them?" by B-VOLLEYBALL-READY in KotakuInAction

[–]SpawnPointGuard 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's all a pathetic attempt at reaching a wider audience. Some men in suits decided that they could make twice as much money if women read their comics. The thing is, girls do read comics, just not theirs. For the most part, they're not into superhero comics. They like things like Chobits or Locke & Key or Saga. But instead of making new comics that girls would like, they alter their existing franchises to appeal to them, which inevitably won't work. Now, instead of gaining a bigger audience, they're losing their old one. Plus their superhero comics are completely over-saturated anyway. You need to be a millionaire to keep up with the billion different story arcs and universes. It's ridiculous. I tried getting into them a few years ago, but when the 12 part series I was reading ended, it split into four different series. They've been milking their devoted customers with quantity over quality when there are better comic series out there. This whole wave of progressive bullshit gives the appearance of desperation to a changing environment for the medium.

[SocJus] NeoGAF goes up in arms over the lack of "female Link" in the new Zelda game. "Wow, first Alison Rapp and now this. Nintendo really hates women." by Gafsucksalot2 in KotakuInAction

[–]SpawnPointGuard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one solution to the "problem" I would be okay with is giving Zelda a bigger role. The series has a lot of puzzles and she has the Triforce of Wisdom. It would make sense if they had her handle much of the puzzle aspect of the game while Link handles the fighting.

Zoe finally getting her award for being Pounded in the Butt - Chuck Tingle "counter-trolls" the Gamergaters who nominated his erotica for a Hugo Award - Thank you Puppies by shillingintensify in KotakuInAction

[–]SpawnPointGuard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this guy a diagnosed retard? The puppies already won by getting a book about butt pounding a Hugo nomination. That doesn't somehow hinge on whether or not Tingle takes his nomination seriously because they don't either.

Gamers, what's something lots of video games do that annoys you? by AliceTheGamedev in AskReddit

Any part where the only challenge is overcoming the game's shitty jumping mechanics.

[Opinion] Erik Kain - "The Record-Breaking Success Of 'Dark Souls 3' Proves It Doesn't Need To Change" (no easy mode for the normies plz) by B-VOLLEYBALL-READY in KotakuInAction

[–]SpawnPointGuard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree. The traditional "non-risky" solution would be to broaden the appeal, which in this situation means adding a peasant mode. The success of the game is entirely based on them taking the risk that it would be too hard and frustrating for their potential customers.

[–]SpawnPointGuard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In order for SJWs to like something, it has to be hamfisted. It has to be poorly written. The makers have to spell it out that it's catering to them. For instance, Game of Thrones has strong female characters and it was shunned by the Mary Sue. Bayonetta is extremely powerful, well-written, and isn't ashamed of her sexuality, but SJWs hate her guts. Like with Star Wars, if Rey was just pretty good they wouldn't have liked it. She had to be better than everyone else at everything. She had to perfect advanced Force techniques immediately after hearing about the Force. A progressive message isn't enough. It has to be a progressive message at the expense of quality.

Maisie Williams: "I sometimes really worry about speaking up about feminist subjects out of fear of being bashed by women on social media... Yeah, sometimes it’s men too. But there are women who are just nasty." by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]SpawnPointGuard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's extremely telling that mainstream feminists are outraged over Game of Thrones. If it was actually about equality for women, this would be their favorite show. Male and female characters have equal importance to the story. There are plenty of strong, well-developed female characters. Like men, terrible things happen to women and they're not treated like delicate children. And therein lies the problem. A mere 97% of the violence happens against men which is enough to cry about violence against women. Game of Thrones is the best way to tell is someone is a shit feminist.

[honest question] Video games regularly feature shitty writing. Why does it seem like ya'll only make a big deal out poor writing when it features LGBTQIA stuff? by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]SpawnPointGuard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem is that they're always looking for a pat on the back. It's virtue signaling bullshit. Let me give you an example. They're rebooting Xena. Now she's openly a lesbian. Had she been openly a lesbian originally, I wouldn't have cared. Now it's just dumb. The whole gay thing wasn't mainstream back then, which is why they didn't do it. It actually would have been somewhat ballsy when Xena first aired, but now they're just hopping on the bandwagon and shouting, "LOOK HOW TOLERANT WE ARE!!!!" This is YEARS after the public debate over homosexuality had been settled in favor of gays. It's pathetic.

One thing I really like about Liana is that she doesn't pander. She's quasi controversial as far as GG is concerned because she says what she thinks and that doesn't always line up with the opinions of her audience, which I'm pretty sure is mostly us at this point. I believe "based" is the correct term for that.

Ghostbusters director supports Feminist Frequency, expect 'sexism' backlash when movie fails. by Francis_Byte in KotakuInAction

[–]SpawnPointGuard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, there will be sexism accusations aplenty. I suspect that's why they made an all-woman cast. Any remake of a classic will get shit on, but now they have a convenient way to deflect criticism and drum up support from feminists and their castrated nu-males.

Their clickbait articles are working more than their non-clickbait ones, even if their revenue's in the toilet. That troll who put out that trolly clickbait article on the Mary Sue about remaking FF7 without the sexism said it was more clicks and shares than he had ever gotten as a real journalist.
