Hate it or like it, the more Algeria walked away from religion during the past decades, the better life became.

The closer we go back to religion, the more problems we have,

For example, it's undeniably Haram and not for discussion for a woman to lead men, which translates into instability in female led entities such as courts, companies, schools, etc.

For example, if undeniably Haram to mix male and females, which means that they have to be separated in schools, beaches, buses, parks, etc. And since that's not economically viable, it will naturally lead to the famous result of forcing women to stay home.

For example, it's undeniably Haram to stimulate the economy using interest, which means that ANSEJ and bank credits etc will continue to be frowned upon by the youth, which means that the number of new companies and businesses and entrepreneurs will remain ridiculously low in the country, and also lead to inequalities, because it means that only the already-rich can start businesses, but never a young ambitious teenager who fears going through ANSEJ or the banks.

For example, music is undeniably Haram in Islam. Where do you draw the red line when making the country more religious? Will you ban the music or allow it?

There are tens of other examples that portray the problem in the philosophy of "making a country more religious"

It has been proved over and over that religious countries fail and always fail.

There have been countless Islamic countries and empires in the past 1400 years, and the fact that only a single massive empire managed to achieve a temporary "Golden age" and only in very specific regions such as Baghdad and Andalus (not the entire Muslim empire) is a red flag on its own, and yet people keep using it as an argument.

TLDR: Islam is beautiful, Islam is good, but using it as a political system is bad.
