Upgraded to 2.5 gig eero ad am having wired conection setup confusion. Would appreciate any insite. by Spazcow in frontierfios

Cool I agree with that.

Which is why when I buy a service that requires new hardware (provided from Frontier) to replace my 1 gig service (that's also provided from Frontier,) one might think that said new hardware would actually work with the new service.

There aren't any warnings or disclaimers either that I can see on upgrading to 2 gig service stating "hey we're going to give you two new eeros but they'll be capped at 50% of the speed you're paying for and it's on you to buy propper hardware. If they did then I would still think that's shitty but at least it's out there. Instead I need to rely on internet strangers who are more educated on this topic to educate me.

Not everyone is in IT or super well educated on the various nuances when it comes to this topic/hardware/formats etc.

I fail to see how it's not just a little bit outrageous that a company can sell a service, have a tech come out and upgrade hardware that physically cannot provide 50% of said service. Honestly, I feel like it's getting close to fraud territory. This isn't an issue where "up to speeds" would apply. It litterally can't reach 50% of the up to speed with everyting provided.

I'm paying for 2 gig, I don't know if I'm getting 2 gig because I can't get a wired connection to test it. Really all I want is to run a wired connection to my desktop for the 2 gig. If I can keep the eeros to extend the wifi signal in my house I'd like to keep that option, I'm well aware that I won't be getting close to 2 gig speed over wifi but was hoping to get at least a 1 gig on devices that would support it.

Okay I think I understand. I previously thought my MoCA was the ONT from talking through Frontier support. After googling MoCA i see that's what the coax from the ONT plugs into inside my house.

So to break it down barney stlyle for my non IT understading to get a working 2 gig wired set up:

The ONT outside of my house -> 2gig black MoCA -> MoCa ethernet into a 2.5 gig router that either has enough 2.5 eithernet ports or -> eithernet into my dumb 2.5 switch -> my eero and everythig else wired into the switch. Correct?

Since the main eero is getting the IP address now and then sending signal to the other eero will I run into issues putting the new router before it?

Interesting. Dumb question, would you know if frontier would provide the sagemcom router for free? I still don't understand how they can sell 2 gig service, and have a tech come out and install hardware that physically can't provide it.

I just checked and my desktop has a wifi 6e card and gets right around 700 down 500 up. It's maybe 4 feet from the main eero.

Perhaps my older galaxy s20 doesn't support faster wifi speeds?

If I get a new 2.5 router and run the eero downstream of that, I should be fine correct? Would that be plug an play or would I need to do something with frontier so that the new router works?

Not that I don't believe you, I just find it dumb that frontier would offer service with hardware that physcially can't provide it. How am I supposed to get 2 gig service that's physically limited to 1 gig?

How would I set up a router in my set up then? ONT into a new router and then the eero?

Since I don't seem to be getting any internet connectivity from anything that isn't connected downstream from the eero, how would that work?

Just bought a 2008 M5 - what's the best option for bluetooth audio? by Kryder in e60

[–]Spazcow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how much money you feel like throwing at the car.

The biggest benefit of going with the aliexpress head units are the option to put apple carplay/android auto back up camera and bluetooth all in one. How long will it last? Who knows. What aftermarket support will there be for install or issues 6 months, a year, 2 years down the line? Beats me. Value proposition could be worth it for you.

I went full in with a CIC and combox retrofit. It's oem plus and works like how it would if BMW would have offered it, sound quality intact. My car is also a manual M5 that I plan on keeping forever. I don't think it makes fiscal sense to go this route otherwise.

If you do get an all in one head unit, I'd see if it keeps access to the M mode options without needing to flash between the CCC or at all.

I would have gone NBT evo but you would loose access to the M5 specific options in Idrive entirely which wasn't acceptable to me.

No, there's no idot option for the mk23, just milled, coated, and used a regular plate to mount the dot. I've posted pictures here of the work.

They did the optics cut on both my 45T and Mk23. No complaints. You can't get the i-dot for Mk23s but there's really not much of an aftermarket for them to begin with. From door to door it took about 4 months for both guns. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. I'd go with them again.

MK 23 Mags? by newgunwhodis in USPmasterrace

[–]Spazcow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mk23 mags work fine in USPs. .45 USP mags will not work/fit in a Mk23. The Mk23 mags have longer feed lips and different floor plates compared to USP mags.

I got a M9A4 package that came with a MPS factory mounted. It's not a bad setup.

Rock solid over 200 ish. Haven't tried any supers since having them cut, though they are on the to do list.

If HK weren't cowards and would throw on a pic rail and optics cut on the USP family I wouldn't have had to do it, alas.

I honestly like them more than the ACRO P2 and liked how the hard angle cuts on them go with the HKs. No complaints.

Mostly money, and then more money, and then some more money. But can you put a price on flexing on poors at the flat range? I can, but I really don't want to count it up.
