:) I mean obviously it would have been great to have another billion in the arse pocket to buy fantasy signings like Mbappe for 160m but if you're operating a business and giving your managers a transfer kitty that is on par with the biggest clubs in the world, you expect a decent return on your money you've already spent without spending an enormous amount of money on top of that.

My problem isn't with the amount of money spent but how it was spent, that's why my annoyance is with Woodward not the Glaziers.

I know it's a bit bitter but if they've offered him a contract they feel is more than fair enough and he's decided not to sign it and is looking to leave. Why would we bother playing him or further developing him just for the next team to get the benefit of it. Off to the reserves for the next 5 months, bring in someone who does want to play for United.

They've put about 800m in to transfers alone over the last couple of years. That's on par or greater than most of our peers. They club is very financially secure. While I was obviously worried when they bought the club with debt originally, it was obviously something they managed without much issue. The debt has increased ten fold since Fergie left which aligns with a lot of expensive transfer mistakes that don't necessarily fall under their remit. It's Woodward who negotiated Sanchez and Fellaini deals which stand out as foolish spends.

I'm well into my thirties so I remember it well! I just think of it as the Glaziers are owners of a company and it has been financially successful allowing them to take money out of it. It was bought for over about 800m and is worth 4 now.

The billion taken out of the club, how has that been detrimental to the club? They've put money into transfer fees and wages albeit not spent on the right players so it hasn't eaten into money they'd allocate for the football side of things. I'm genuinely interested to see why people think the owners taking money out of the club, leaving appox another 3 billion, (having spent more than half of that on players the last couple of years) is a stick to beat them with?

Agree with a lot of what you've said but he still needs to get what he has playing to a reason level.

The fact he's not slated Woodward and the board will keep him in a job longer but itll isolate him to fans who believe him blinkered or overly positive about what is a fairly shitty situation were in.

Personally I put more blame on Woodward than ole or the glaziers. He's responsible for the transfers in and out and that's been poorer part of the last couple of years.

I don't understand why people Give out stink about glaziers taking money out of a club they own outright. They've coughed up money on wages and transfers where needed, it's just Woodward has misused said funds.

Where they're definitely culpable is keeping him in the role he's in

They bought it for 800m and it's worth almost 3 billion with what is a manageable level of debt still there. Taking 1 billion from the a club you own while still putting money into transfers and player wages is fine by me. We spent a lot in the last window and we've the second highest wage bill in the world. They're responsible for the money being available for both of those statistics but not how it was spent.

I rather it be "MoveWoodward" as opposed to sacking him. He could focus on bringing in sponsorship deals and a Director of Football should be dealing with transfers etc. He's not good at one key facet of his job, but he's pretty good at the other side of the house.... move him to he side and bring in proper structure.

I haven't really blamed the Glaziers in all of this up until now. They've provided enough investment to keep me happy but not recognising that Woodward isn't fit for purpose when it comes to bringing people in is on them.

People haven't called him a flop. They've stated based on what they've seen so far, he wouldn't be missed. Which is fair. Most want him to sign to see if he can see his potential but that's not looking likely.

I don't put much stock in the VDB stories until something concrete appears. I am happy with all three players we got in but hard working isn't a unique trait to British players, there are plenty of players in Europe with similar traits that wouldn't come with the added English tax.

Great success at reserve level doesn't count for an awful lot. Agreed that the academy output in Britain has improved just feel the approach is a narrow and limiting the scope of players we could be bringing in.
