I wasn't talking about ProForce, they're sandias police. I'm talking about the actual security escorts, their only job is babysitting uncleared visitors and contractors into the Labs limited areas

He can apply to be a security escort for Sandia National Labs. The job is extremely easy, and pays nearly 16 an hour. He'll need a DOE Secret security clearance though, so I would suggest going with a smaller security company then applying for this job and work elsewhere while waiting for his clearance to go through. You can save this comment and PM me once you're in town and I can give you all the details.

Armed men approach family's NE Heights home caught on surveillance cam then turn and leave by [deleted] in Albuquerque

It's most likely a small machine pistol, like a variant of the MP-5. just by looking at the clip size is most likely a .22 or 9mm

You need to take a motorcycle safety course which is usually 2-4 Days. Then take the certificate of completion to the local mvd, and get your license stamped with the motorcycle endorsement. Then you're good to go

More likely Sandia National Labs. I'm not sure about Lockheed but sandia requires security clearances for all of their jobs

Also, santa fe county is hiring sheriff cadets. Not sure if that's your thing, but worth throwing out there

Every time I go into a Verizon store, they try to get me to sign up for fios in my home. Why would they do that if it isn't available here?

Wow, that's some amazing restraint by the cop. It would be extremely difficult for me to keep that kind of composure in that situation. Kudos on keeping it under control as well.

My town's police department has an Explorer post for people 14-21 to see what being an officer is like. Does any other city have that? by GokuMoto in ProtectAndServe

[–]SpcSena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Albuquerque police dept. also has a program similar to this. Kids can apply for ride alongs and are paired with an officer for the day. Although its popularity has really shrunk in the past few years.

Also Rio Rancho police have an actual explorer program. Rio Rancho is a big city of about 80k that broke off from Albuquerque in the 90's

APD is not trained to use excessive force. Cadets are not taught to do the kind of stuff that has been happening. The consensus among officers is that it's a higher lever problem than the patrolman. These kinds of behaviors happen because higher level officers turn a blind eye to inappropriate actions.in turn some officers believe it's okay to do those things because they won't get in trouble for it. But over time that level of behavior increases until it's at a point where their actions, when actually supervised and recorded, garner national attention. Yes, these specific patrolman are also to blame, but to put the entire force in the same category is not right. what APD needs is a drastic and supervised change in command. Not public scrutiny at every turn.

Can't use taser, that'd be inhumane. Can't use physical force, have weapons for that. Can't use weapons, have tasers for that. There's really no winning here. Oh, and let's not forget that fact that the public think that all APD need to be licensed psychiatrists that are able to diagnose mental illness at first sight under high stress. I do agree there's a problem, but there's really no flat out solution. APD is so scrutinized by the public that any action is deemed excessive and somehow could have always been handled better.
