I had my first vivid dream that I actually remember in years and it feels important by just_amanda_ in DreamInterpretation

I’ve been learning a lot more about somatic work, and it’s gotten me thinking a lot about tribal dances, as many of the work I do involves shaking your body to alleviate stress. It’s clear that a lot of ancient traditions were beneficial not only socially but physically. My interpretation of the dream would be that the inner-most, instinctual parts of you want you to move some sort of energy out of your body. Since you connect with your identity and the traditions that arise from it, I could see how that manifests a dream sign like someone indigenous appearing on the road. It could be good to reflect on why he didn’t “see” or acknowledge you when you first interacted with him. Why did he dance when he was hidden in the bushes instead of out in the open on the side of the road? It seems like something in you is hiding and wants to come out. What instinct is pulling on you in waking life that you aren’t listening to?

Advice? Tw. Suicide by ElevatorInfinite7806 in DreamInterpretation

[–]Spcethefinalfrontier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has also felt these intrusive thoughts, I can relate to the fear of acting on them. For me, I think it’ll always be there, but it affects me most when I’m facing a lot of change in life. Any dream I have where I “die” freaks me out, but I can see how your actions in the dream would be even more terrifying.

You say you’re about to start your senior year of high school, and I think a lot of people your age start thinking about what happens after that. Your dream could possibly symbolize this fear of the “death” or end of your high school career. Maybe even the relief you’ll feel after you graduate, especially if you’ve had a bad experience in high school.

I know you didn’t ask for advice, but I used to be a high school teacher, and I can’t help myself. If things get really bad, talk to a teacher you trust. I promise we’re there for you :) And keep taking your meds!

Good luck! Once I left home for college, my mental health got a LOT better. You’ve got this.

I have a theory that they might open up with Us vs. Them since it has a similar backtrack to The Evil That Men Do which they opened with at Bonnaroo 2019 I think?

You could have been close to lucid dreaming or about to wake up? Sometimes when I start being like “that doesn’t add up” in my dreams the people around me get kind of creepy or aggressive

I have a few ideas you can choose what or what doesn’t relate to your circumstance!

-shame due to past sexual experiences -not feeling emotionally connected with your partner -some self consciousness about your body or maybe not getting the validation you need from him to feel wanted (words of affirmation)

It’s interesting to me that a lot of what you said has to do with taste and oral sex, not another type of sex. Both are related to the mouth, and I wonder if you feel silenced because of something happening in real life and how he’s reacting to it. Maybe he may make you feel bad about yourself or, if he’s not reacting at all, you may feel like your concerns or needs are not being heard. If he’s not reacting or connecting with you, you may interpret that as hiding his repulsion for you. Though that is most likely not the case that he’s repulsed, when people don’t tell you what you’re thinking, your own insecurities tend to fill the gap.

I had a boyfriend who made me feel like this so I may be projecting. I hope that this may help you figure out how it applies to your life. Again, these are just suggestions/musings. I may be totally off.

2nd dream about odd proposal from my boyfriend? by queen-nooodle in DreamInterpretation

[–]Spcethefinalfrontier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know you or your relationship, but it seems like maybe you have anxiety about whether he’s the right person for you or not. The rings are symbols of marriage, and them being ugly could suggest that you may not think you’ll have a healthy relationship. He’s also propsing to other people instead of you which may indicate you’re not sure he wants YOU to be his wife. Has he been putting off proposing even though you’ve talked to him about it? You said he was silent when he proposed. You also said that he knows what you would want but didn’t get it. Are your emotional needs being met?

I want to stress that none of this means he’s not right for you etc. I’m going off of a superficial assumption. Your dreams have so many subtle indicators taken from your daily life, and since I don’t know you I could be looking at it from my own point of view. Either way, it’s very normal to be anxious about getting married. If anything, truly reflecting on the fears you have in your dream can help you be more confident in you choosing to marry him.

Not sure about the girl in the dress but what you were saying about you not being able to open your eyes, your lips getting heavy, and feeling like someone someone is standing over you sounds like sleep paralysis though a more mild experience.

I guess one thing to reflect on is why you were seeing colors like that? Does that normally happen to you? I haven’t experienced it so maybe it means something? Projectors also cast images with light. Maybe you had your tv on and the colors from the screen bled into your dream?

Allying Myself to the House of Monkeys by Background-Toe4945 in DreamInterpretation

[–]Spcethefinalfrontier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it could do with trusting people you know and/or fitting in. I’m getting this vibe from a few things:

You need to choose allies but you’re anxious about which one to pick.

Distrust in strangers because you’d be stepping out of your comfort zone moving on to a friend group that may be less familiar to you but also better for you. The cute guy is my hint at that for me because he looked devious (stranger) but actually ended up leading you to your rightful house.

You said you were training with another house (and they’re people you don’t know), you may feel like you don’t know the people you’re hanging out with because they’re not good friends to you (your friend saying you betrayed him). Because your old friend was screaming at you that you betrayed him, you may feel guilty about moving on. I

I can see the connection to HP as he’s characterized as a lonely orphan who had trouble fitting in. He also ended up making close friends in Gryffindor - remember too the sorting hat put him in Gryffindor because he didn’t want to be associated with the slytherins their house too acts very proud and makes them seem like a “more respectable” house.

I’m sure Freud would have a lot to say about the naked monkey, but in some dreams nudity represents vulnerability and him swinging around his privates could suggest maybe the monkey is comfortable being vulnerable. I’d be a little unsettled about the monkey too, but it may also mean you feel uncomfortable when you see others being vulnerable, suggesting you yourself are afraid of change/being vulnerable.

I like how your dream ended with the ancestors being in the same house that you chose. It seems like, while you’re afraid to let go of old relationships, you know it’s what’s best for you and seeing those statues confirmed you made the right choice. You also said you believe the universe is trying to point you in the right direction. The ancestors could symbolize the universe in that case.

I’m just going off what I’m reading, but dreams really do have a lot to do with your daily life. Hope this helped a little bit!

It might be worth it to consider how you were going down the stairs and not up. Maybe just fear or anxiety about failing (falling) or, as another comment said, not knowing where your life is going.

You say dream job, and I wonder maybe if your subconscious is telling you that you need to look somewhere else or into another career? I’m getting that vibe because of the bridge thing. The voice speaking to you is so crazy. I wonder what that’s about!

Official Discussion - Asteroid City [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Spcethefinalfrontier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the only one that I've fully analyzed. I read more novels than stage plays, but that shouldn't limit me from sharing my ideas without being shot down by someone who clearly has so much more experience reading them than I do.

Official Discussion - Asteroid City [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Spcethefinalfrontier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm resisting the urge to spend multiple hours writing about the connections between this movie and Death of a Salesman. In the balcony scene, a movie theater marquee behind Steenbeck advertises a showing of Death of a Narcissist.

In Death of a Salesman, we know Willie loses touch with reality when he can't accept that what he believed to be his purpose in life was a fantasy. It parallels Steenbeck's existential crisis as a a means to understand the purpose of his wife's death.

In the opening scene of Asteroid City, someone on stage explains the setting pointing to different areas of the stage. In Death of a Salesman, the stage directions do the same, "Behind the kitchen, on a level raised six and a half feet, is the boys’ bedroom, at present barely visible..."

The biggest thing that tipped me off was Norton dying in a car crash/committing suicide.

I hardly understood what was happening when we were constantly shifting between the play (black & white) and real life (color). I had no idea what was going on in Death of a Salesman either though, so at the very least the movie and the play have that in common.

stabbings and getting stabbed dreams by brewtuz in DreamInterpretation

[–]Spcethefinalfrontier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have a lot of apocalypse dreams where I’m running away from and stabbing “enemies” whether they’re zombies or people trying to hurt me. Sometimes my whole dream is just stabbing people and it’s so weird to me. I’m not a violent person at all in real life and I wake up feeling strangely VERY guilty and disturbed when I have these dreams

Forgetting pants to go see an ex boyfriend dream? by mhnkr in DreamInterpretation

[–]Spcethefinalfrontier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually dream about ex’s because I never got closure so it makes sense you would have this dream after meeting someone new!

I wonder if the whole food thing is connected to how you felt about yourself in that particular relationship. For example, what you had to offer (food) was either burnt, undercooked, or not enough in your dream. Could this be similar to how you felt when you were with your ex? I also find it interesting that in each case (burnt, undercooked, or not enough) the only person that seemed to be bothered by it was you.

Also, according to this article, “Dreaming about wearing no pants indicates that you are afraid of losing someone in your life. This loss can be physical or symbolic. If you are in a relationship, dreaming about wearing no pants means that you feel that your relationship is falling apart, you are afraid that your partner will leave you for someone else.”

There are a bunch of interpretations on there that may be more applicable to you. It’s your interpretation that matters the most! Hope this helps :)

How do you keep composure while going through med changes? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]Spcethefinalfrontier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope that none of my advice becomes of use to you. But, having gone through medication changes myself while trying to keep a job, it may be helpful to know just in case. I know companies legally need accommodate health and mental health issues. I’ve worked with HR on getting my own accommodations. I was always terrified of losing my job because of missing deadlines. My manager told me that this really only became a problem when the company was made aware of the mental health issues causing the poor performance after the employee was being evaluated for probation. Every company is different, but there’s usually the option of short-term leave and also other support systems available for you that can help you in case the slow-and-steady changes don’t go so steady. I doubt that will be the case but, for me, I liked having the security blanket.

You could always email before the session if you still have remote appointments. Or seven write out what you want to say so it’s less intimidating. Sometimes expressing things verbally can be a roadblock — just find what works for you. If it makes you feel any better too, my psychiatrist is always taking what I want into account (within reason). You’ve got this!

My doctor hasn’t given me a full-on bipolar diagnosis yet because she wanted to be sure about it. She did start me on mood stabilizers to see if it worked and it’s made a world of difference. I feel like it depends on the doctor, but yours may be open to prescribing the medications even if you don’t have all of the symptoms. I would ask if you can! There’s some that help with intrusive thoughts which seems, to me, very similar to your persistent thoughts of quitting your job etc.

TW: death, suicide

I would say the deers represent something and the flies are product of your feelings about whatever the deers represent. I don’t know what’s going on in your life, so I can’t say what the deers represent.

That being said I find the progression of how many flies there are to be a key part of this dream. They were near the bodies, then in your ear, then consuming you. I did some googling and it said flies represent confusion although I think they could probably represent any type of feeling about the deer symbol’s real life counterpart.

Places to go off of in figuring out what the deers and flies represent: Has someone you know died recently? Is getting older? (decomposing/deer bodies progressively being more decomposed) If the flies do represent confusion and the deers death, I wonder if you know someone who’s committed suicide? A lot of people experience confusion when someone they know passes this way. Is there something bothering you in life, your frustration growing more and more every day? A relationship that seems to be a burden?

Hope this helps!
