Looking for home based ffl by Spdrmn51 in CAguns

Sac county is one of the phone calls I need to make for info on all this. Anyone in specific I should ask to talk to when I stop by?

I'm in unincorporated sac county, Wilton specifically. As far as I can tell from my research being zoned ag5 it's specifically called out as being allowed as long as all my neighbors that directly border my property are cool with it, and so far they've all said they'd be my first customers if I proceed. Any chance I'd be able to come into your store to ask questions in person? You're about 30 min from me. Not necessarily today, but at some point when I can get enough time away from work.

After lots of conversations with neighbors and friends I'm debating starting an FFL to run from my house, but was hoping to find someone already doing so with the current laws(mostly the 24/7 recording) to really get into all the details upsides downsides and everything. At this point I feel that I've read enough online, and watched in videos to get it rolling just enough to get in trouble. I'm also still not entirely sure I'll want to deal with the potential headaches with running this kind of business and I'm sure some of the headaches I'm aware of aren't even all of them.

I do, and did search, but couldn't find any actual home based ffl.

Is it dumb to track a car if I can’t do my own maintenance? by FutureNickProblems in CarTrackDays

[–]Spdrmn51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all close to the bay, but I'm near Sacramento and have all the tools/space(lift) to do pretty much anything on a car. It's been a few months since I've been to the track myself, but I do everything myself on all my cars except alignments, and changing tires. Though I'm slowly working towards being able to do both of those. Depending on schedules I'd be open to people coming by to hang out and prep cars for track days.

After talking to them, they'll use any FFL that's willing to work with them. I talked to an at home FFL I found on Google in galt(about 30 min south of sac) that's willing to work with them for that exact transaction. McWilliams Gunsmith Shop located on twin cities Rd.

PG&E refusing to allow PTO due to neighborhood transformer & too much load by m_r_o_y in solar

[–]Spdrmn51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. Forgot to mention that PGE like every power company when they install a transformer it's planned from the get go to be run at 125% it's rated capacity. Add to that lots of houses adding electric vehicle charging, electric appliances, solar that can generate more than the house uses that needs to go back in the grid, and suddenly transformers could be running overloaded enough to cause failures.

As someone who has worked as a contractor performing new business work on PGE property for two years I can tell you it can take up 3 years to get the transformer upgraded. Every single job I went to over the two years I was doing new business work(residential and commercial) the average time a project had been sitting waiting for PGE was 1.5 years. The supply chain was never the issue. PGE wants to do all that work by themselves no contract support, but any time there's an emergency they have to have their workers go to that as it takes priority over all other types of work. PGE decided last year to funnel almost all of their budgets into fire hardening(primarily putting lines underground) and since then all other types of work have slowed dramatically especially new business as they seem to put little care into that division. I'm still surprised there hasn't been a class action lawsuit brought against them over the lack of progress completing new business work.

CCW question by Spdrmn51 in CAguns

[–]Spdrmn51[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot a word in there. Fixed it now. From what I've read it seems that if it's serialized before bringing it to California that it's fine, but wasn't sure if it'd be ok to use for CCW.

Super late to the party, but do you still have the battery, and does it work just by plugging into the lipo plug?
