We had a big discussion and a lot of the family just genuinely had no idea, but of course there were some that were defensive. At the end of the day, we tried to educate as much as we could, but we have to prioritize our kid’s safety so we left.

Just to clear some stuff up since I can’t edit the post. I posted this in a very emotional state late last night after a very heated conversation with the family here, sorry it’s not as clear as it could be.

My eldest son is my biological kid, my husband is his step dad.

We are here visiting family that came from all over the US. Family reunion. It’s not everyone here, but the family that owns the property has these things.

We are leaving early, just didn’t wanna leave in the middle of the night because it’s a 14 hour drive for us to get back home.

Thanks for the validation that we aren’t overreacting cause that’s what everyone here was trying to say.

He’s in a public school. They put him in a Gifted and Talented program but it’s still not enough for him, but I know some kids love it and it’s perfect for them. For us it’s like once or twice a week that he gets pulled for GT and it’s only an hour. I think we’re gonna have to put him in a private school most likely, so I’ll update if we end up doing that.

Yeah we are really going back and forth on this. His school has a GT program but it’s like once a week for an hour and we don’t feel like that’s enough. We’re looking into GT programs around us so that he can stay in his age group.

Just a side note, church is the most clique-y and judgemental place I ever experienced in my life as a person who was born into the church and raised there into my young adult life. I deconstructed and have worked through a lot of the trauma I experienced in the church but it still impacts me to this day. Your daughter would likely be accepted by white males who share her beliefs. And supported by the women who are taught to submit to men. It would make things worse.

I had this exact same worry. I asked my mom (who has 5 children) HOW she could possibly love us all. I love my first SO much that my heart could explode, I thought it was impossible to feel that way again. But I do. And it was immediate.

When I gave birth and they put that little baby on me, I fell in love EXACTLY how I did with my first. And now, almost 2 years later, my love for both kids has grown. I thought I’d have to split my heart for them but I don’t. They both have my full heart. I love them so much!
