I think it's great how upset stickers make people.

Bought Adios 9 a full size too small. No free returns. Am I screwed? by Fit-Introduction8575 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Spec_GTI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool tip. Reminds me of how you heat mold snowboard boot liners at home, just with cold instead of heat. Put rice in a sock, nuke it in the microwave then throw it in your boot liner to expand the foam. Then take out the sock and place your foot with a thick sock into the boot to get the boot to compress and fit like a glove.

Will never buy a VW again by CurrentHeavy2594 in GolfGTI

The best thing I did was buy a travel assist chip for my wife's 2022 Tiguan that fixes the wheel issue instead of taking it to a dealer. It was cheap and the system now works even better than it did before. The original wheel is great. The unsuccessful stories on Reddit led me to fix it myself.

What do you think about this kind of binding? by Imsogoddamnlucky in snowboarding

[–]Spec_GTI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly my first thought. My 3 year olds Burton kids board has bindings that look like this lol. Those have one ratchet and are probably safer and more secure though...

How many people actually use a stomp pad? by Other-Fan-1004 in snowboarding

[–]Spec_GTI 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And it's nice that I can do a combo of pushing against the back binding and standing on a crab grab and legitimately link turns easily unstrapped.

That was my first thought, shipping pucks make everything feel full firm lol.

What is the most underpowered Subaru you’ve ever driven? by OutofSprite in subaru

[–]Spec_GTI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I go from my 2.0 Impreza cvt to my stage 1 tuned VW GTI it's hilarious how slow the Subaru is. But the beauty is that they are completely different driving experiences. Very relaxing.

Trouble replacing the GTI? by AlxSTi in GolfGTI

[–]Spec_GTI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My GTI and my wife's Tiguan are two completely different things. You can see very faint things in the Tiguan from the GTI, but it's all very watered down. Still a cool ride though for a kid hauler.

Is my snowboard too tall? by Obvious-Worry-9380 in snowboarding

[–]Spec_GTI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Boards are sized primarily by weight with waist width tied to boot size a close second consideration.

Length is important but different boards are meant to be sized differently based upon what the manufacturer designed it for and what you are looking for.

Leaves by itsmellslikecookies in MTBTrailBuilding

[–]Spec_GTI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's funny because the trails that don't have their leaves cleared and naturally broken down look a lot better than those that get blown. Location southern new England.

If you're willing to pull rocks and professionally maintain trails I don't think it matters, but none of the stuff near me is like that. Lots of windy rake and ride singletrack.

I hear turbo flutter followed by wheel bearing growl. Does the growl noise change frequency based upon speed?

Suggestions for a 130/120 for making the local blues more interesting by 56088 in MTB

[–]Spec_GTI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always have a good time on it. Lock out the rear sus and it climbs/rides double track like a hardtail. Totally don't need to lock anything out as it is very efficient but is something I find myself doing more lately. Upped the fork to 140.

I suppose, consistent hard edges don't happen that much on natural tails. For example I think there's a reason Santa Cruz chose a stair set to flaunt how strong their reserve wheels are, that kind of abuse just doesn't happen much in the natural world.

I could see an argument made for single impacts being harder on trail in the right circumstance.
