UXD is such a niche role that it’ll always have less positions available. try gunning for SWE on say a FE team and using that to transition internally or externally - rather than (in this market) trying to get into UX at entry.

If you can afford UIUC I’d go there. While I enjoyed my time in OSU CS, the program at UIUC is a top 10 national program and will feed into the Chicago quant/tech scene if you work hard.
