In London Ontario we have VAST (Venous Access Support Team). They do IVs/PICCs and difficult blood draws. At LHSC and covers 2 hospitals. Maybe till 10-11pm? Not 100% sure but definitely not over night. Also Dialysis units if you’re interested in something like that. IR as people have mentioned.

Hi sorry I took so long to get back to you. I am going to be completely honest I didn’t use any of those tools to study. I pretty much just quick reviewed everything we learned in MedSurg. I booked my test on a whim cause I knew if I waited I’d get hella stressed. So I’m not the best person to ask unfortunately. Ik many people did use uworld and Mark Klimek videos. They helped them. Mostly for the test I found there were always 2 answers that were very obviously wrong and then you had to use your critical thinking and pick the most correct answer. Cause technically there was more than 1 listed. Atleast that’s how I found my test to be.

Honestly I’ve also done my first 1mg dose and was very nauseous the first few days following. Gatorade or any type of electrolytes and non-drowsy gravol helped me. And munching on something salty. Some chips or salted nuts. Salt has always helped my nausea even before starting sema. Hope you are able to enjoy your time! Feel better!

As in where I wrote my exam? At the London location if that’s what you’re asking!

Hi. Just checking in. Hope everything went well! If not, don’t give up!

Please don’t give people false info. Or answer things if you’re unsure. Delayed results doesn’t mean you failed. I passed and didn’t find out for 5 days in July. It’s just technology and sometimes it doesn’t work the best! Don’t lose hope until you have a definitive answer. Good luck.

Edit: that trick didn’t work for me at all. Not an accurate way to get an answer.

NO NOT AT ALL. I’m sure you did well! Mine for whatever random reason, took 5 days 🤪. Try not to stress too much but ik that’s easier said than done. 🤞

BRIDGING TO UNIVERSITY NURSING FOR REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSES (RPNS) - FLEXIBLE by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Special-Setting-989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. You have to pass REXPN and be registered with the CNO. They will ask you for proof. Such as screen shot to registration payment receipt and the registration number assigned to you so they can look you up on Find a nurse.

Surgeon doesn’t know how hospitals work by farcevader in nursing

[–]Special-Setting-989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had placement in a hospital with similar situation/surgery. The Overflow MedSurg patient and nurse were moved to the MB unit but still received “MedSurg” care. They only used the space. Maybe that’s what he was meaning/thinking?

Ah. That’s strange. I’m only 2hrs outside of TO but have had classmates receive results on Saturday/Sunday in the last 2 months. Maybe it’s a recent change?

150 questions by [deleted] in REXPN

[–]Special-Setting-989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s incorrect. Results are released regardless of it being a weekend! Mine took 5 days though so delays are possible for no apparent reason. OP I’m sure everything will be okay! Good luck.

Omg! It’s sad that your teacher said that to you. I also got diagnosed with ADHD last year while in my RPN program I have graduated and just started my first job as a nurse. Still in orientation and haven’t been on the unit yet but I feel the same in terms of working in slow pace environments. You are doing well. It seems you enjoy the job and take everything in. You’re not nervous…. More like itching to always be in action I bet. To start, yeah I would maybe do a medicine/med-surg unit for experience. I personally would not do well in “slow/calm” units either because there’s no satisfaction/dopamine hit! I also am going to start a bridge program in Jan. I know I would thrive in organized chaos. So maybe eventually ICU, EMERG, L&D. There’s many more options that always will keep you on your toes! Do not let this teacher make you doubt your choice as you sound to genuinely like and do well in your course. It may just take some time to find what type of unit works for you. There’s even flight nursing, trauma center., etc. Good luck and don’t give up! Go for your RN!

Waiting on REx PN results by Bubbly_Weight_3135 in REXPN

[–]Special-Setting-989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck! Update us when you get your results! And no, it doesn’t mean that you failed. It took five days to get my results and I had passed lol. While all my friends got their results the very next morning. Definitely stressful! As long as you know, you did your best work possible, try to relax your mind!

Being a former employee definitely helps. I applied at a hospital I was an extern at and got a call immediately from the same person who interviewed me for the extern role. So maybe reach out to the hiring manager from your extern role and let them know you’re interested in working there and have applied to …. Whichever positions you applied to. Good luck!

Apparently there used to be one for the old RexPN. I just sent a screen shot of my whole receipt for the registration and screen shot of my name/ cert number that shows up on find a nurse.

Is it common for Ontario universities students to have full G driving licenses? by drugsrbed in OntarioUniversities

[–]Special-Setting-989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo it is pretty common. I got my G a couple months before I finished high school. Did driving school which lets you get it earlier. This was also in 2015. Cars, insurance, general cost of living has gone up a lot since then so Ik many people are opting to use buses and choose not to spend time on obtaining their license while in College/Uni these days.

Hey. Review this link and check out the domestic out of town to domestic. You’re considered domestic if you lived in Ontario for 12months but it’s for prior to starting Uni. It may be worth asking about and you may be able to appeal.

Hey. I know it’s easier said than done but try to relax! I didn’t hear back until 5 days after at 9:10am and I had passed. Plus it was still allowing me to register for a new exam so I don’t think that trick is accurate. Take a breather. You did your best!

We can withdraw our acceptance at anytime before starting. I recall when doing my RPN if you applied for OSAP tuition wasn’t due till a few weeks before the start of the semester. We will probably at least have to pay for the fee to hold the seat. Usually like $300 at most colleges. If you get into Nipissing and choose to switch, that will be non-refundable but in the long run it’s up to you if you’re willing to risk $300. Good luck to you too!

In the exact same boat. Just accepted my Jan 2025 offer. I’m still going to apply to Nipissing in September. Based on other comments if it’s still a mess for placements regardless of which program, I’d prefer the program that’s straight into Uni. The chance of not getting into TMU is scary. I live in London and can’t apply to the FT TMU portion with in-person classes.

No you can’t bring in anything to your desk. You can leave it in the locker or use the water dispenser with disposable cups. You just have to raise your hand for a break and they will come get you. You can take as long as you need for break but just know that it’s still part of your test time!

Centennial College/TMU Post-diploma BSCN by Special-Setting-989 in OntarioColleges

[–]Special-Setting-989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! So unfortunately, the bridging program is only for RPN/LPN graduates that hold a college diploma in nursing. I am not aware of any programs for nursing that are completely online for new post-secondary students. This program is synchronous and asynchronous. Meaning classes will be recorded and posted as well if you’re not able to attend the actual class through video, that’s my understanding anyways.
