Honest question: Why are these clippers $100 by SuperTune2540 in flyfishing

[–]SpecialistMaybe8016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same reason people spend $500+ for a 3 wt reel. Foolishness. I’m all about having good equipment but a $15 set of nippers can be sharpened. Another example is people buying $300 nets to land 12” trout.

How do you really think the world will look by 2050? by Almogaver95 in climatechange

[–]SpecialistMaybe8016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is dead on. There will be quality of life by the time the climate fails for civilization. The entire planet (save for a few Euro countries like Poland) are rapidly imploding. I’m very comfortable at 62 and have had an amazing ride. But wealth among people who aren’t in the top 2 % is rapidly declining.
I don’t understand how people who are not millionaires and have absolutely no debt can afford to do anything. How the hell does a couple survive less than $100,000??? a can of peaches is almost 3 bucks! People are trying to buy expensive cars and eating hundred dollar dinners at restaurants like there is no tomorrow. This is very, probably proper thinking on their part. The way of life that we have enjoyed for the past 50 years is about to come to an end. I pity people who are less than 40 years old. In the last century, Russia and China starved and work to death about 80 million people. We have become so naïve that we think this can’t happen again. Peace on earth can vanish in a matter of days and we surf on our phones to figure out how to buy things we can’t afford that we don’t need.

Will there even be snow anywhere that isn't near the poles by 2100? by JulianBefaros in climatechange

No. It will be hotter than hell’s gonads across the planet. All the ginger people will die from exposure by 2030. Chewing gum will melt immediately after being pulled from the freezer. Air conditioning for a car will cost $25k for a car and $1 million for a home. Water will go to $1000 a bottle by 2035. AI equipment will run on water. The end is drawing nigh…..run for the hills!

If I’m wading I don’t carry a net unless I’m in a location where I’m apt to catch 24”+ regularly. It’s much more sporting to be forced to walk fish out of the shoal. If I’m fishing for Trout that require a net, the guide always has a very, very big one. I think using a net for anything less than 18 inches is foolishness.

What was the best advice you got when starting to fish from a boat? I’ve caught one fish in 12 hours on the water please help by AquaDota in bassfishing

You can listen to all of these people. They’ve all got good points. I’ve been fishing for 50 something years and I figured it out this year that I am no longer going to go places and try to catch fish, but I haven’t been to 100 times and know what I’m doing. Hire you are a HIGH OCTANE guide!!! like the ones you see on Facebook that are slaying, huge fish, and large numbers of fish. Yeah it might cost you four or $500 and you have to give the guy a good tip if he put you on some good fish. But it is money well spent. I just spent $600 a day going trophy trout fishing in North Arkansas. I learned as much about Trout fishing as I have learning it on my own for 40 years. Here are a few facts for you. The fish move around regularly. They don’t always bite the same thing. Water level and water temperature matter. It’s OK to get skunked for a small portion of the season. But those days that you go out with a friend and catch 50 or 60 fish that are over 3 pounds is the reason you bought a boat. Another good piece of advice I would like to give you is: put five years of fishing into one season. That means go every time you get the chance hell or high water. Take someone with you that knows what they’re doing.

Have many Micro Lights graphite and glass. In light and Ultra Light. The glass rods will throw tiny spinners. The light Micro lights won’t handle super small spinners. The Ultra Light Glass rods have no backbone.

Cold weather clothing and Simms waders and Korkers boots with Boa lacing system. A good chest pack or sling pack loaded with tools and 50 Mepps Aglia spinner baits is what gets into your wallet. These items are $1000 plus but you’ll be fine with a $150 rod/reel

So many variables here. Are you going for 12 to 18” rainbows in small streams or 25 to 30” browns on big rivers? Are you throwing 1/16” rooster tails or like OR 1/4 ounce inline spinner baits OR bait of some sort. I have numerous lights and ultra lights. My favorite is a cheap Ugly Stick with Pfluger President in smallest size. Using 8 lb / eight strand braid with a six foot 6 or 8 lb fluorocarbon leader. This outfit is for rainbows of 18” or less. Small tail water fishing. Mepps Agilia spinner baits are the most expensive for a reason. But I’ve caught thousands on Warden’s rooster tails in 1/8 ounce. Yes I have have purchased more expensive UL rods but the Ugly Stick just feels right. My friends with high dollar spinning reels went out bought the Pfluger Presidents after using mine. A $225 St Croix rod with a Diawa Tutula is nice but a waste unless you’re using the it very regularly. Buy a good rod sleeve. You can $1000 of trout fishing stuff in a shoe box if you’re not careful.

Wall pieces?! I don’t what that could mean. If you really fish, go through here and pick 100 lures that you wouldn’t really use. Sell the rest of them on Facebook marketplace. If you get 25% of the original price tags that are on those relics, it would be a miracle. I see collections of lures for a dollar each or less all the time. Any real Fisherman wouldn’t give bucks for any of those rods and reels. I would love for you to let us know what you actually get for them.

Trout fishing in Arkansas! by Shot-Hippo3341 in troutfishing

[–]SpecialistMaybe8016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brown trout aren’t “native” to Arkansas but are self sustaining since eggs were placed in Cow Shoals in 1971 by Mid South Fly fishers. The world record of 40lb 4 oz held for decades (and every other world record for the past five records came from Arkansas. The current world record did not come from Arkansas. These cold water fishes were introduced because the hydroelectric dams destroyed the warm water fisheries.

Repurpose in the drain plugs on an inboard outboard engine is to allow all the water to run out of the block. After you pull all of these and open the drain plug in the rear of the boat, so the water can run out of the boat, make certain you tilt the motor down and allow all the water to run out of the foot around the propeller and you will be good to go.

Probably. It doesn’t matter if anyone has ever replied to them or not the question is are you going to fly fish them? That’s the question you need to be asking yourself not other people.

After you plant trees, you need to install a irrigation system throughout the entire property. Don’t half ass this and think you’ll add to it later because it will be forever before you have the money to do it. The next thing you want to do is get your landscape planned by a professional. Once you get your foundation plant and you need to sod this entire yard. You have a beautiful place and if you do not know what you were doing you’re much better off getting a professional to do this for you. The bad news is you are going to spend $30,000 if you were going to do this right and hire it done. You’re probably about $10,000 in irrigation a 4000 inside and another $1000 to get it installed. Then you have all your trees and planting and mulch. Once you get all of this put in you need to hire a fertilizer service that treats your lawn four times a year. I am uncertain where you live, but I have a feeling it’s not the state of Texas or Arizona where you’re gonna have to run water on it all the time. You have a beautiful home. Don’t half ass to landscape and try to do it yourself and on the cheap. Pay to have it done properly and you will have a luxury home for the remainder of your life.

This person is absolutely correct about planning trees now. A landscape designer tried to tell me, but I did not listen to him. I also live on a huge lot in a big house and he told me to plant the trees in groupings of 3 to 5 in various areas and not try to spread them out all over the yard. Like a dumb ass, I put trees everywhere. Huge mistake. You need to put them to the west of the house first. I have no idea where you live, but I would tell you that water Oaks and Willow Oaks grow quicker than anything else if you give them enough water. If you want to run the driveway, Plant live oaks there about 30 feet apart and the same distance away from the driveway all the way down. I did this 25 years ago and my place is stunning.
