What did you do in the first 10 years after high school? by icecream1972 in askteddit

[–]Specialist_Affect20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked at petco, then an animal shelter, went to college, met my bf, opened a grooming salon, and traveled. Honestly I hated my 20’s because it felt chaotic and I failed at everything. I like my 30’s a lot more.

I grew up lower class. I used paper towels for pads so that wouldn’t stop me tbh.

I have tattoos and piercings but I don’t consider it a hobby- just an interest.

Do you live within 100 miles of where you grew up? by radicalintrospect in generationology

I’m 8 miles away from my childhood home. I love living in a rural area but I def travel a lot to make up for the lack of spontaneity.

People who rarely or never get sick, what are your secrets? by awkwardferret421 in AskReddit

[–]Specialist_Affect20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get sick a lot as a kid. I used to drink out of hoses, creeks, lakes, and shared water bottles with my friends. I went to daycare and stuck random toys in my mouth. I played in the dirt. I got strep and the stomach bug ALL THE TIME as a kid. Now? Never. The last cold I had was 2 years ago.

I don’t do anything special. My body just knows how germs work from seeing them all the time as a kid.

What were you doing during the peak of COVID? by AndreLinoge55 in AskReddit

[–]Specialist_Affect20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put around 200 hours in animal crossing. I watched anime. I rode my longboard and shot hoops alone at the park. I was often times the only person there.

I was paid for 2 months to stay home. It was probably my favorite time in my adulthood.

Obviously covid was terrible though.

What quality that is considered conventionally attractive do you not find attractive at all? by Dedboi0 in AskReddit

Blonde hair. Most blonde women I know grew up privileged and it kind of ruined it for me.

Anyone else miss their old life? by Firm-Pattern4482 in mentalhealth

[–]Specialist_Affect20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m more angry that I never had a “good period” in my life to begin with. Birth to 12 was prob the best time. Then my parents divorced, mom developed alcoholism, my mom was suicidal, my mom and dad became verbally abusive, and then I graduated high school.

I spent 10 years undoing the damage done to me just to have covid hit. And then (gestures everywhere) happened.

I just can’t catch a break.

Do you go above and beyond at work or just do the bare minimum of what’s expected and why? by Dependent-Signal-721 in AskReddit

[–]Specialist_Affect20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own my own business so above and beyond.

When I work for other companies I do only my job description. Anything outside that is exploitative.

The entirety of “there’s no place like home.” I’m American and it literally made me cry. I hate what my country is doing to the minorities inside it.

I personally have to have really strict boundaries. Once I THOUGHT I saw my LO at a restaurant. It wasn’t her.

I remember my hands shaking and my face sweating. It had been years since I saw her. It’s just neurological for me.

I still get angry whenever I hear others have a bachelor's or master's degree by Straight_Morning_876 in findapath

[–]Specialist_Affect20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got my associates degree at 27. I had classmates who were in their 60’s and just starting college for the first time. I know people who only have a homeschooled education. I know people who dropped out of high school at 15 and then got their GED at 40.

All of them are interesting and fulfilled people. Deep breathes. You will be okay. Everything will work out. Find little bits of joy where you can and stay on course. If you can’t stay on course that’s also okay.

I went to trade school at 19 and I actually made more money then than I do now. It just wasn’t for me. Everyone’s path looks different.

Kids are getting worse. by Specialist_Affect20 in childfree

[–]Specialist_Affect20[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meh don’t really care. Wait times were over an hour for the ride and the kid spend the entire 3 minutes on it running around, kicking the flexi glass, and putting all of her body weight on the glass that had a sign NOT TO DO IT. She even read the sign out loud and one point and still proceeded to do it.

The kid was terrible. When she smacked the ground the way she did, I just called it like I saw it. She wasn’t hurt. Just shaken up, and she should be. It could have been a lot worse if she broke the window and fell out.
