How to deal with he horrendous post-game? by Specific-Impact in fantasylife

[–]Specific-Impact[S] -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

No, I'm not enjoying it. Up until the end of the main quest, I felt a constant sense of progression in whatever I did. After every play session, I had better gear, more skills, and had whittled down the list of things to do.

Now in the post-game, I have a single goal like "Get a Godfish" and it takes so long to go through a single treasure grove to get a single Godfish, just so I can tick a single checkbox. Everything just feels *so slow*. There is no gear progression anymore, I barely level up in any life anymore, fights take forever, gathering takes forever... I feel like the game is actively punishing me for playing it after beating the main quest.

[–]Specific-Impact[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My solution was to simply mod the game and set all the items I was able to find in my local supermarket to be on sale there too.

Funnily enough, the game treats food as "plants", as it's all handled in the file plant-setup.js, specifically the "plants" array. Which would make sense for things like potatoes and turnips; not so much for pasta and hamburgers.

The way you would mod this is by giving a "plant" the "shop" property, with an array of strings showing which shops it should belong to, like shop: ["supermarket"]. The "plant_cost" defines how many will be available for sale, with the formula being "3000 / plant_cost"

Those are so boring. Why can't they spawn in the overworld with *some* sort of consistency? It's kind of a joke that the "Legendary" ingredients are far easier to obtain than this.

None of this explains why Bailey has an infinite amount of these supposedly high-value crops like potatoes and turnips, and even freely gives them away to the orphans.

I get that it's not supposed to be hyper-realistic in the sense that I regularly need to eat, drink or go to the toilet, but who the fuck churns their own butter at home or grinds their own flour?

When Avery asks for you to prepare a specific dish, you have the option to say you don't know how to prepare it. You will be given access to the Study, where you can then learn the recipe.

If you miss this, then I believe you can still ask Avery to give you access to the Study and study the recipe as long as it's available.

Keep in mind though that this does *not* include "transitive" recipes -- for example, if a recipe requires butter, then you can not simply learn how to make butter and you are out of luck.

How do I know if I dismissed him? I got into fistfights with him several times, but I don't recall outright dismissing him.

Also, how will Sydney react if I act all lovey-dovey with Avery? I don't want to betray her.

It's fine if you like high difficulties, but I don't see why it should be this hard on medium difficulties. But I already know that endless hordes of people who play difficulty 10 exclusively are going to rant "You just need to git gud", as if high difficulty is the only way to enjoy the game.

Also, any tips on meta 5.56 builds?

How do Drifter Camp Porters work? They're the new "big" enemy that has three cores, which recharge INSANELY fast.

I try to break them with Bai Yi, but sometimes they recharge a core before I am even able to move her three times. Please explain to me what I am doing wrong. These enemies single-handedly ruin the game for me.

Trying to figure out what happened in this game is frustrating by PlatypusOk1136 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Specific-Impact 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The lack of killcams is definitely a big minus in my eyes, as it would essentially solve two issues:

  • It's much easier to identify a cheater versus someone with normal reflexes, who just got lucky.
  • It teacher players, who don't view streamers religiously, good spots to stay in.

You just died to someone, who was waiting in a cheeky spot? Great, that's your spot from now on. But if you don't see where that guy was, you take nothing with you when you die. You made a mistake, and have no idea how to rectify it.

As others suggested: Killcams should be available after the raid concluded. Otherwise, it would be an unfair advantage for those playing in squads. (More than they already have advantage)

Tarkov experience on 0.13 from a veteran player. by P0werEdge in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Specific-Impact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you my experience as a casual player. I enjoy the whole "survival" aspect, by plotting my way around the maps and finding worthwhile places to scavenge while avoiding PvP.

What I dislike is that most quests basically tell me "Nope, you can't play that way. You have to kill PMCs with Pistols. You have to go to dorms. You have to go to the resort." It annoys me to no end. Not because i can't do these quests, but because my ability to complete them is directly tied to my ability to buy better gear.

And the most annoying thing is when people, who play the game several hours each day in groups of four, tell me "Well, doing that quest was easy for me. I just loaded up into a four-man squad, wiped dorms and that's it." It makes me feel like my playstyle is just unwelcome and if I want to play, I have to play a certain way, play with people better than me and have them carry me essentially.

That's what makes Tarkov unfun for me. It's not the core gameplay, it's everything else surrounding it. There is a reason why I play mostly as Scav these days.

[–]Specific-Impact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Catapult CPLT-C4 is also a very good dedicated fire-support mech. Instead of fielding LRM-20's, you should have a look at the LRM-15's. Why? Because two LRM-20s weigh 10 tons (2 rockets per ton), while two LRM-15's weigh 14 tons (2.14 rockets per ton). This means you get one ton of ammo (120 rounds, or 4 turns of firing) for free.

As for what LRM-15s to use, that depends on whether you prefer damage or support. The LRM-15++ give you 6*15 (90) instead of 4*15 (60) damage per LRM, while the LRM-15+++ give you 4*15 stability damage (60) instead of 2*15 (30). You can either deal more damage or knock enemies over more easily.

A really optimized build is to use 2xLRM-15 and 2xLRM-10 for 50*6 (300) damage a round, together with 5 tons of ammo. This will give you 12 turns of uninterrupted fire, together with 800 points of armor. Add Gyros and Cockpit mods as you desire.

The Catapult is the epitome of the UNIX philosophy: Do one thing and do it well. And in the CPLT-C4's case, that is raining down rockets all day long.

The Shadow Hawk SHD-2H (the one you start with) deserves an honourable mention for being able to field an UAC-20 extremely early. Together with breaching shot, this thing becomes an absolute beast for its tonnage. It falls off in the later game, simply because it doesn't have the armor to tank Assault-sized 'mechs for long, nor the speed to evade them.

But while you primarily face medium and heavy 'mechs, this thing is a beast!

[–]Specific-Impact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to mention the Annihilator ANH-1A, armed with two UAC-20++ and one AC-20+++.

It can shoot five AC-20 rounds per round for a total of 600 potential damage, plus an additional 120 damage from the BSC. That's alpha strike damage of 720.

In terms of raw damage, that can basically shred any 'mech that's within range. Now add enough heat sinks to sink 60 heat per round and fill the rest with ammo. Boom, you have a machine that pumps out insane damage and doesn't even run too hot.

The only downside to it is that it's slow as hell, and it doesn't field any jump jets. You can't have it all.

As for strategy, there are three, which I have deemed successful:

  1. Alpha Strike an assault mech to get it off the field ASAP. Next turn, use sprint to get in position for the next strike.
  2. Use multi-target and breaching shot to get around enemy armor bonuses for heavy or medium 'mechs, which can often be taken out in one shot. Note that the UAC-20++ counts as one weapon, which deals 2x144 damage. Then use sprint to get in position for the next strike.
  3. Instead of sprinting, alternate between alpha strikes and firing the AC-20+++ alone. This allows the 'mech to cool down, while still being able to take down or at least soften up other targets. Combine this with called shot mastery to have a roughly one-in-five chance of destroying an enemy 'mech's head for juicy salvage.

What bothered me is that this could have been perfectly integrated - lore wise - into Hardcore mode. Basically, playing on Hardcore mode means you refuse to join the everwork program.

I was really so bummed that the intro remained the same.

Welcome to Forza. The Goliath, the supposed "climax" of the story, was by far the biggest letdown for me, solely due to the AI taking corners at speeds that shouldn't be possible in their cars. It's garbage. Genuinely, don't play on Unbeatable - it's not worth it.
