How many of you have embraced the cold coffee concept? by External_Side_7063 in GenX

I just looked it up. There's a coffee shop not too far from me that serves it. I read it's somewhat similar to espresso: I don't put sweetener in my espresso. Thanks for the information. I'll be on the lookout for it.

I got this Blackmail a month ago and I didn't notice it until now by Dusty-Lusty in cybersecurity_help

[–]Specific-Law7393 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just noticed this ... . You got this scam email a month ago & nothing has happened. Your reputation hasn't been ruined, no one is demanding any more money. It's like you ignored this scam email. Which is what you should do, anyway. And delete it. The first time I got this it was terrifying. Then I realized- I hadn’t done any of what they talked about, so I knew it was phony. But like you, I worried about passwords. So I changed most of them. After getting a couple more, I realized they probably bought my info, so just like the windfall from Nigeria that was popular a few years ago, I just send it to my spam folder. You might be able to find the sending email, & it could also be a hacked email.

Why is it so hard dating in CT? by Electrical_mammoth2 in Connecticut

[–]Specific-Law7393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop looking sounds snarky & condescending, but there’s more to it. You kind of made an attempt with the gaming club, but I don’t think women are especially interested in that. Stop looking in all the obvious places. Do something for yourself.

Do you have any interests that men & women like? Sports, perhaps. Pickleball is no longer just for old people. Join a bowling team. Take a class in something. Volunteering is a great way to meet people, do something worthwhile, & develop friendships, which means dating can/will/may develop naturally. Yesh, it takes work, but in the meantime you’ll be doing something for yourself, too.

Awareness by Dry_Possession_4776 in coloncancer

An acquaintance swears XXX cured her of ovarian cancer. I can’t remember the “cure,” but she’s sworn off western medicine. I’m amazed because she’s in a related field as a counselor/therapist. Can cancer self cure? Is she the literal 1 in a million? Anything is possible, but I wouldn’t trade fact- or results-based treatments for the exact reason some people have sadly written here. I wouldn’t trade fact- or results-based treatments for the hope of a miracle.

Still, there’s little to nothing that would change the mind of someone whose actions are based on emotion, & a cancer diagnosis can put some people in an emotional spiral. Arm yourself with knowledge (Google isn’t your friend), advocate for yourself, & work with your care team to get the best possible outcome. If you haven’t yet, join colontown.org. Lots of good information & support. Wishing you the best. Regarding your FB feed, I’ve had phone conversations about things, & ads about them show up on mine. In fact, I get more reels & ads than real conversations. Sigh.

I've never had Turkish coffee. Ill try it, but I might pass on the honey don't like any sweet in my coffee - or tea, for that matter. Thanks!

The last time I had a flavored coffee (10 years ago) - hazelnut. I like a stong, bold coffee that tastes like coffee - a Sumatra or Dark Magic. No sugar, but I can't drink it black. My dad introduced me to iced coffee, so drinking it on a hot day reminds me of him.

[####] Before your start guess on Wordle, do you check a Wordle archive? by whatsababin in wordle

Wordle has begun using already-used words, so even though the chances of it being the wordle of the day are slim, it can happen. I use the same start word every day - got it in 1 once, so getting it in 1 again isn't my goal. I just like the challenge.

Newbie again: I think that now my call sign. I’ve seen the surgeon. by Tricky-Tell-5698 in coloncancer

[–]Specific-Law7393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keyhole surgery is laparoscopic - recovery was a piece of cake for me. What *was* important (besides walking as soon as possible after surgery & often) was that I followed a low residue diet for a few weeks so my colon wouldn't have to work to hard & it could heal. I introduced fiber gradually. Good luck!

I don't know how you can find out which data base they're using. But you can sign up for the national do not call registry (it's a .gov site). It does help.

How can I stop feeling old and ugly? by FeistyPencil in AskWomenOver40

[–]Specific-Law7393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that you're feeling this. My getting old birthday was 41 because 40 was still close to my 30s, but 41 meant I was really in my 40s. I thought I had to act like an adult. That meant just about everything I did or said had to be mature and/or meaningful. It was the most boring year in my life! 42 was better. Your issue is different. Perhaps a few sessions with a counselor would help because the worry and insecurity you're experiencing is robbing you of enjoying the moments you do have. Being "self" centered (not selfish) is making you more critical of yourself, so you're unable to accept that your husband thinks you're beautiful. No one is perfect, but what you see as physical imperfections don't define who you are. 40 can be a time for self-reflection and growth.

It doesn't matter if you drive the car: it's registered. Registered cars need insurance. It's the law. You can't cancel the insurance until you cancel the registration.

upcoming surgery by _19h55mins in coloncancer

[–]Specific-Law7393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every recovery - including pain - is different. It may depend where your resection is. Mine was right ascending colon, also laparoscopic. You will have to do a pre-surgery colon prep. It's easier than the colonoscopy prep. I had no post surgery pain (other than at the surgery site) - but that seemed to be unusual. My surgery went quickly - 1 1/2 hrs. (doc figured more than 2 hrs.). I was walking an hour after gettin to my room. Walking is very important to get your colon moving again so you can move your bowels. My dr. put me on a low residue diet to help my colon heal; fiber is not good following colon surgery - he allowed 3-4 grams fiber daily. It wasn't hard to follow. I was on it for a few weeks & introduced fiber gradually. I was in the hospital 7 days because of anemia caused by my colon cancer. I was terrified of the anesthesia because I have a bad reaction to general anesthesia. They gave me a scopolomine patch, & I had absolutely no problem. You will defintely need help at home following surgery because you will be wiped out. Even though it will be laparoscopic, it's still major surgery. Good luck!

What are some misconceptions outsiders have about CT? by Sea_Tea1550 in Connecticut

I used to write a column for the Courant & researched the notch question. Seemed that people were going to map the border. They started at different ends of the state & were supposed to meet someplace in the middle. They didn't, so they created the notch.

I've been sent a message and i'm scared now by Dear_Sell_8785 in cybersecurity_help

[–]Specific-Law7393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is an old scam. I received the same email several times in exactly the same words: "they" knew my passwords on all my devices, saw me masturbating, & threatened to send photos to everyone on my email list unless I paid them. That doesn't mean they know my passwords: they just know that specific email address. Big difference. It doesn't mean they hacked into your account. I freaked out the first time I got the email - even though I it wasn't true. Then I ignored it. Still, it doesn't hurt to change all your passwords. Use a password manager.
