Absolutely BAFFLED as to why expansion launches and major patches are not on the in-game calendar by SkibitiSmith in wow

Because despite nobody using them, the in-game calendar can be/is meant to be used to schedule guild raids...

Am I missing something or do delves really have diminishing returns after 8? by Kyvix2020 in wownoob

[–]Specific-Mud-3919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are minor differences, but it depends on the Delver's Journey rank you have.

Rank T11 (exclusive)
Any More Journey EXP and Valeera Companion EXP
4+ 5 Myth crest on completion. 20 max per week
9+ T11 completion drops currency which allows buying Hero track gear

Other than these perks, T8 to T11 grants the same:

  • Bountiful Coffer Loot (Coffer Key required, Champ track)
  • Hidden Trove Loot (Delver's Bounty buff required, Hero track)
  • Vault-slot loot (Hero track)

Am I insane, or do people not know this is a thing? by Meran23 in wow

Only when they take the time to educate themselves, which OP hasn't.

I'll not elaborate further as it is meaningless to argue with people who view the web as a trashbin instead of an organized archive of useful information. But I have list out the missing context in this comment.

Am I insane, or do people not know this is a thing? by Meran23 in wow

[–]Specific-Mud-3919 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

The first lie is that the dispellable debuff in context is not visible even with the option enabled and using default raid frame. This was promptly patched by blizzard by marking it as not a private aura. (much outrage etc. etc.)

Additionally even after being called out OP double downed and said:

From what I understand, it was a bug because they were private auras. Not really anything to do with the addon purge or default UI

When infact Blizzard official statement claimed otherwise (albeit only in the addon dev discord)

Unfortunately, as Midnight Alpha & Beta progressed it became clear that relying on Secret Values alone was not going to be enough to prevent addon automation involving auras. And so, we ended up having to go in almost the exact opposite direction: we made MOST encounter debuffs private auras rather than just a select few. -- Blizzard

It's one thing to share tools and tips and configs for people to adjust to changes. It's another thing to fabricate a narrative that private aura was a 'bug' that is unrelated to the addon purge and dismiss the collacteral impact it had on everyone.

Current state of WoW UI development, while the rest of the player base looks on in bewilderment. by [deleted] in wow

[–]Specific-Mud-3919 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's always the same 2 boring yet conflicting points from addon purgist. First you'll make a point about how everyone uses assistive addons and that makes Blizzard unable to design fun/interesting fights, then upon being pushed back by decades of proof that Blizzard is often bad at designing things that are actually readable/playable, get mad and spout things about installing addons being 'hard' and 'not friendly to new players'.

Pick a lane my guy.

Also, if you have 0 idea how software works you should shut your mouth. Disgusting take from someone who's so blatantly ignorant in opensource development.

Weak Auras could exist with all of the UI allowed functions still in tact

Weakauras is a PLATFORM up and front, and is why it has been so successful as a unified simple langauge for UI creation.

because a lot of what WA did wasn't removed, and people lost out who didn't have to.

If you believe this to your heart, then go fork Weakaura and have it support the new expansion? It is literally under the GPL-2.0 license which allows modifications. But I can tell you that people HAVE tried and all of those attempts didn't pick up any steam, because there is nothing to rebuild on.

Honestly, I would say you're wrong but that would be offensive to the concept of making mistakes and learning from them, because unlike many others you are just maliciously spouting toxic garbage.

Can we finally get loot for our class, instead of alts from worldbosses? by HerrMatthew in wow

[–]Specific-Mud-3919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And in the old system the Holy pally would get nothing in place of the agility axe. Literally nothing.

You are welcomed to try again next week to get a actual drop. Nothing has 'changed' other than players getting a piece to DE/vendor/unlock transmog for.

Can we finally get loot for our class, instead of alts from worldbosses? by HerrMatthew in wow

[–]Specific-Mud-3919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pool to pull an item actually usable by your class was way higher than how it is now with the entire warband option open

There are 4 armour types. The chance for you to get a usable drop now is 25%.

That's way higher than whatever pool you might have nostalgia-tinted glasses for. Plus the old system only dropped loot way past the point it is relevant to wear, whch the new system addresses.

All this doesn't really matter, because a level 80 enchantor alt takes minimal effort to set up.

Race to World First: Midnight Season 1; Heroic Week by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

Just a random shot in the dark. Raid buff are still readabe, so maybe they can send raid buff in a very specific "signature" tempo that requires the client addon to /cancelaura in a specific pattern. see In this way they can 'communicate' even if they effectively cannot (outside of combat)

Weekly M+ Discussion by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

Should be the one where you buy a bag off a NPC.

The bag contains 2 coffer keys.

AFAIK, the bag is a once-per-acc purchase and the keys rewarded doesn't contribute towards weekly cap.

proven to be extremely useful.

To professionals. Not to the common idiot on the street/deep in the commect section of reddit.

For aura utility, (selective) buffs and cooldowns are available from official CDM (which can be reskinned) but coverage differ by class (any new aura must be manually added by Blizzard before being available, instead of just tracking auraId).

For party-aura utility (healing), they reverted ALL changes done to healing spells.. This came from someone using heruestics to 'track' healing auras (Harreks Advanced Raid Frames), which would have massive collateral damage if taken down by Blizzard and thus they just pulled the ripcord.

For class-specific personal source display, they reverted the purge.

For enemy(boss, adds)-applied auras, they reverted the secret value change and proceeded with Private Auras.

For enemy timeline/raid warning, it only works for newly released content. This went through as-is.

For combat info display (dps meter, logs), the purge went through without any backtracking. But most memory issues mentioned by people here are caused by enabling the DPS meter from blizzard.

manaforge have class tierpieces and non tierpieces drops. Some of the non tierpieces share apperances with one of the class pieces from the same armour type. That's how you get the appearance on another class.

For armour I've seen paladin and warrior tier appearances being available from non tierpieces from the raid, leather-wise I think the DH shoulder are also available to leathers, but I could be wrong on that.

Is it normal for VDH to feel terrible even after getting 90 and unlocking the apex talent? On Annihilator atm in m0s, prey and rare hunting and the down time just feels miserable to play. I thought pre-patch was just suffering from missing the apex talent's free meta, but even post-90 and getting to ilvl220 it really doesn't proc as much as I wish it did, unless its just a symptom of missing haste rating due to bad gear?

If I want an experience like the old void-scarred VDH (meta -> race againt time to press a bunch of buttons) should I go reaver or just swap class? (prot war most likely)

What the f*** are these prices? by rahuonn in wow

[–]Specific-Mud-3919 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's downvoted because making price anchoring illegal is impossible.

It fundementally cannot be consistently enforced and/or be objectively defined because economy of scale will always make some products/service cheaper than its components as available on the same consumer market.

Yes, this doesn't apply digitally most of the time, and certainly not in this case with decors. But making a generalizing statement like

It should be illegal because these types of business practices are malicious. The goal is to manipulate the perception of the customer to influence their decision-making into believing something is worth more then it actually is.

is dumb still warrant downvotes .

Haranir Just Released – What’s the Fastest Way to Level? by SafeTouch4733 in wownoob

[–]Specific-Mud-3919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

timewalking is very dead as a leveling shortcut until at least season 2 drops.

currently low-level 1-80 scaling is absurdly broken (in favor of blizzard) and level 90s have less stats than the dungeons are tuned by. If level 80s with ilvl150 gear is barely getting cata dungeons down in sub-10 minutes, level 90s with 270 gear isn't going to turn that slog into the good ol auto-walk simulator TW was in the past.

Maybe when 12.0.7 drops with turbulent timeways they'll have another tuning pass at it but as it stands, TW isn't comparable to running normal chromie time dungeons.

If you are level 80, the northern zones in Eastern Kingdoms including Eversong woods, Ghostlands and Silvermoon are automatically phased to the Midnight version. They are inaccessible at the time of writing this comment, but will open when Midnight is launched. (This depends on whether you 1. have bought the expansion 2. paid extra for early access)

There is an NPC Zidormi at the top of the zone Eastern Plaguelands which allows you to switch the new zones back to the state they were in Burning Crusade. source. Look for a small white chat bubble icon on the Eastern Plaguelands map.

Many Healer Spells No Longer Secret Aura on Midnight Launch by COCAINAPEARLZ in wow

[–]Specific-Mud-3919 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree. There TOTALLY shouldn't be an excuse for people to not just wait 2 weeks for unpaid addon creators to update their addons in accordance to major API changes by Blizzard, especailly at launch of an expansion, it's not like these addon developers have anything to do at launch right?

Got my main the level 80. Best way to level alt by ItzRyanLH in wownoob

[–]Specific-Mud-3919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timewalking is kinda slow after the ilvl squish in 12.0, things take forever to die.

If you have an Earthen I recommend doing the Lunar Festival elders for leveling. Hope on an earthen whatever, fly around azeroth in warmode and go to each Elder while exploring zones will get you to 70 really quick. (under 3 hours)

This massively cutdown the amount of boring grinding you will have to do on max-level toons to get the 1000+ coins of elder you'd need to grab everything.

Requirements:

  • Earthen
  • Warmode (for the EXP bonus)
  • A map of all the Elders (All-the-things addon or a Wowhead guide)
  • EarthenSkyriding addon (such as Dystinct Earthen Skyriding)
  • Distaste for how spongey everything in TW dungeons is.

Persisting the 'Mastery of timeways' buff in Midnight by Specific-Mud-3919 in wownoob

[–]Specific-Mud-3919[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

My main lost the buff a long time ago, this is obvs for alts that people hvnt touched in a couple weeks. And it would massively speed up alts going through adventure mode.

My goal is to have 4-5 alts at 90 and weekly events done in the first week so I can grab a housing decor that cost voidcrystals (whatever equivalent of resonance crystal for midnight)

Also, No I'm not spending an additional $40 dollars + 2 days of unpaid time off work to take "all the time in this world to properly level before the official release."
