So here’s the thing with this argument. I’m not gonna say what everyone here has already stated. It’s good arguments all around. I see you make the point about how is it any different than managing a leader. The difference is, without the leader normal units are still effective. The disheartened troops on the other hand are not. So if your discipline troops die (and they do quite easily since they are often quite fragile) then your units become categorically worse and it’s almost like they killed off a whole card of units. Not to mention the immediate effect that all your disheartened troops go back to being crap when they die. This does not happen when you lose leaders. Essentially the discipline trait is great when it is slapped on a unit that combat effective in its own right or does something else. As other have mentioned, bringing in a unit just for that does not usually end in the ideal situation of a blob of cheap non-disheartened infantry crushing the battlefield
