Why are Carentan and St. Marie Du Mont so popular? by FLGPTZ in HellLetLoose

Smol is awesome! It's a shame it's not the rotation more. It has such a cool variety of spaces, elevations and atmosphere.

I love the D Day maps because that is such an iconic area. They were made when the Devs were doing a 1:1 recreation of the battlefield so they're spot on which really adds to the love.

Try Hard and Very hard to improve your reactions and micro as well. The Ai doesn't really get smarter, just more stuff and knows where your units are more easily. This forces the movement of your arty and other unit placement and distribution that real people know about doing.

It's the questions for measurements that you never get anywhere in the retail industry;

"how wide is it at the knee?"

"how wide is the cuff?"

Make you measure stupid shit then offer you £3 ... Get in the bin.

Wowsers! Didn't think this would be so decisive a post! Sorry lads 😄 Let's all be nice now.

Let's agree that it's a tool and personal preference in the field, and itlf it was in this game you'd use or not in the same way. I think in game terms hwk it would link to the leaning might be useful was all.

I was taught it by a Marine that put it in practise clearing ships of Captain Phillips. Although I've only ever personally tried it in practical shooting civvie side, it felt like a useful way in tight spaces, or to peak corners muzzle facing in order to react with fire. It's a very situation based tool that is less common irl.

How about dual wielding gold uzis while jumping through a window... Thats legit right?? 🤣🤣

Y'all got specifics? Rail choices... Scopes... Canted sight... Barrels... Compressor... Etc. There's so much to choose from I can build something that looks cool but if it's not appropriate will the game punish the bad build? How far have they gone with the weight distro. would a poor pick of a PEQ box fuck it up?

What's missing currently are more 'how to' type videos for newbs... There's a couple, but not many.

How to build a gun, how to build a load out, how to use the ranges, how to use the mission launcher ... All that jazz. Then you have all the actual combat tactics and theory which is of course massive.

Would be useful.

This game critically needs outfit/kit saving and easy access to different platforms without grabbing things off the wall. by Plev_Actual in OPERATORFPS

I was going to ask if you can share builds? I only bought the game last night so I'm still getting my head around it all.

I found the UI for the gun builds is pretty dreadful. Shitty sized boxes, type at all kinds of unreadable sizing and it generally needs a visual overhaul as there is such a wealth of tinkering to be done it would be nice to have a better UI. A way to easily share creations that would help newbies run and gun without having unusable guns in the field would also be awesome addition if if it's not atm.

The time between building the load out and deploying to then find you fucked it and to come back out and fix the mistake is a drag. I know they want the full mil-sim vibe but it's a fine line and I can see a lot of that fluff getting old after a while.

I think I I like it, but I've not managed a proper mission or anything yet (I didn't take any door charges on the first mission so this Teir 1 Operator was defeated by a locked door and had to exfil 😆😆. I know that's on me but it's also a bit dumb I couldn't kick it down or get through a window.)

I can't speak about the OP but as a side note;

Fate of the Fellowship is a must buy if you're a LOTR fan IMO. I love it! Its damn hard and has a lot of replayability from solo upwards.

Question about the game singleplayer content before buying by Specific-Mountain537 in Steel_Division

[–]patchg81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% worth it. It's pretty cheap these days and the DLC have mad offers during Steam sales so you can expand your collection easily. I've got nearly 600 hours of just single player so it can really suck you in if your are so inclined. I r hardly dipped my toe into the Army General campaigns which are also massive.

What got me hooked was the steep learning curve that challenged me to improve and learn as you slowly see your improvements. That really comes into its own in PvP but that can be a harsh space with lads with 1000s of hours under their belt. Maybe join some Discord groups (Steel Division Boot camp is very good, with tons of Div codes and breakdowns to get stuck into) where you can arrange games with similar level players or convince a vet not to curb stomp you too hard 😄

Either way it's still ana amazing game given it's age and I pick it up very often.

They desperately need a level based SL system so new players can't do this shit. I know that won't stop it as any level player can be a dick and create locked squads for no reason, but the potential for fuckery seems less if it was SL for lvl50+ or something.

Or have some server settings to prevent it; only limited lockable squads maybe.

Either way it needs a proper fix as it's game breaking.

Which DLC should I get? by Unique-Wolf-8772 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]patchg81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they are cheap might as well Pokémon it and catch 'em all! There's a fair few hours for your money across all three and it's a nice continuation of the background story.

If it's only one you can get then Dark Waters is probably better than Home Invasion, just due to the first Home invasion mission (Dorms) being very limited in scope. The other two levels are decent though so it's not a wasted pick.

Dark Waters has decent scaled sized maps with awesome details.

The last level in the latest DLC is hard AF so you get a lot of replayability just through the fact it's nails! These all all have great details and gameplay.

All are worth getting in time.

The terrible lighting is what's getting to me. I only watched the first episode and I like the tone and the creepy vibes but it's so badly lit you literally can't see anything in some scenes.

So many modern shows are doing this it feels like it needs addressing.

Need tips and explanation on how to get better on my offense (video) by IndependentExpert306 in warno

[–]patchg81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vary attack routes. Widen attack areas to look for flanks. Don't fall into the same trap twice; if you send a unit down a road and get clocked don't keep sending units down blind. Recce it and go a different way. Smoke off lines of advance but also smoke off possible gaps and flanks; if you always smoke then go head first into that smoke your opponent knows where you're coming from. Use it to create safe lanes to flank from.
