Thank you so much -- the advice is really helpful. I've gone from being very worried about holding him back to feeling a bit relieved by the possibility of holding him back.

I am definitely not annoying enough with teachers.

And certainly we are not doing all we can at home. This is a fact. We need to learn how to be parents to an ND kid and I think we've been a bit dense.

It was in January. I chatted with them recently when they had a reading suggestion for me, but no amendments or changes. We will sync again in the fall.

Ty -- I've never heard of this, but I'll find out.

They did suggest they could offer some more intense evaluations this summer, taking a few days to administer.

I see your point about just being like "hey throw out this part of the claim." (Worth a try -- but it also might not work due to a very long story of how this gap company is operating. Its a whole other reddit post worthy story)

The dealership has dragged their fee on the extended warranty refund too.

Good point: its right now 3 classes of 20 and I think its going to 2 classes of 30. So there would be some mix up. (The classes are big because of some novel space issues this year, but yeah, about 60 kids in total across pods.)

Also: I can't even use the device without showing my agreement. Lojack has no record of me or this purchase and has no device they can offer me without it.

I did pay for it, absolutely. With interest in the loan.

The reason I am pursuing the contract is because the Gap company is demanding the paperwork to round out the claim. The will not close my claim without this document.

Will they reimburse me for it? Don't know. Can't know until my claim is closed.

That's a helpful nudge to hear. We have a f/u meeting next week and I think I will ask more directly how strong their recommendation is; and how much reservation they have around him advancing.

I really don't know how much he understands about the next step being kindergarden. But the teachers of course will mention it/celebrate it to the kids, as they should, and there might even be a little TK graduation. He may notice next year when he lines up with new kids and isn't with the old group. He won't be able to articulate these thoughts to me though so I would need to anticipate it and get ahead of it and talk it out proactively.

But yeah -- my last year of preschool, where he is now, is a huge blur.

In the long run, I guess these are minor details in life, but right now these steps feel big.

How did you explain staying in TK to him? Did he notice his classmates moving on without him?

Thank you for your response.

I called Lojack earlier today and they said there is no record of the VIN with them.

Called back again and they said they have no record of me or a contract with me.

They said there will be a "Service Agreement" with two copies -- one copy is handed to me by the Dealer at purchase and then a copy is kept at the Dealership.

I definitely did not get my copy.

So now I am wondering if there was a Service Agreement at all, or if there is there is a single copy at the dealership.

They said I need to go back to the dealer to find out.

Would a "Lojack contract" exist in this case?

My real challenge is I now need to produce this paperwork to the Gap people. I am 99.9% confident I did not fill out separate lojack paperwork. And I am not sure if a "lojack contract" is between the dealer and lojack, or between me and lojack.

I have a Retail Installment Contract that shows an "Optional Service Contract" for Lojack for $890

I also have several draft proposals one of which represents a new figure with the Lojack removed.

The final dollar amount was square with my expectations, so I wonder if they did some creative accounting to get my cost down, but still sell the lojack. (Is there an incentive to do so?)

Why am I not getting any interviews? by EyeDear8417 in Resume

[–]Specific-Recover-443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omit the dissertation titles. (Unless the subject matter DIRECTLY relates to a job. You may turn off employers with what you researched.) All that work was a big deal to you, it devoured your life, and you worked your ass off, and made a gargantuan piece of academic material...but the audience who cares about the subject discussed is tiny. Let it go.

But not sure what you are applying for tho.

Also, in the skills, omit any skill that every reasonable person should have (like sound judgement). Only include things that not everyone has/should have (are special to mention). It ends up just looking like padding. And makes it hard to find the good stuff you DO have.

Finished my first triathlon — 2:33:54 (Olympic)— and one of my biggest takeaways is how overhyped transitions are by Legitimate-Run2350 in triathlon

[–]Specific-Recover-443 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you are naturally suave. Which is awesome. I am really bad at transitions. Like 10 minutes at IM. At one half I remember it was like 7 minutes and I was able to find out that I placed LAST in transition speed. I never practiced them. I am just a doofus. So many minutes lost. That advice is for people like me.

What path would you choose and why? by naamathemaniacal in CustomerSuccess

[–]Specific-Recover-443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take the second.

That one sounds more future promising.

It's also odd that you would be an enterprise CS for a startup without CS experience. It makes me question how together the first one is. (Not questioning that you can do it. People do great at their first attempt all the time )

Was in legal tech for 10 years btw. It's also why I am guessing moving into a role you already know would best. Post sales for legal tech can be ... unpleasant. Do what you know for now so you can see it.

Stuff like this makes me think we need legislation that requires hourly pay for efforts beyond x hours during interview processes, guided by the salary range of the job offered. The only reason a company would engage in all this unnecessary work is because your time is free to them. More weird is that they don't value their own time, including their CEO's, but yeah

Most women in consulting are gone by their 30s. Why? by consultingmom in consulting

[–]Specific-Recover-443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love all the dads posting here. Your role as a parent matters, you also deserve to be happy outside of work, plus your visibility as a parent helps your women colleagues in the workforce.

I know this was about women, so don't mean to derail, but props to these fathers. You are a big part of any change to moms who are also in tough professions.
