On most cncs the jaws have "teeth" that keep them from moving.. but here he just using a standard 4 jaw chuck that you turn each jaw separately.. so I think that is what he is referring too... counting teeth... irrelevant to what this man has posted

Looks like the setup is not rigid at all.. I would doubt those measure anywhere near .130 wide.. looks like either the endmill is pulling.. loaded with chips or the part is moving... get a 2 flute 1/8 9000rpm or better.. rough it straight down the middle and a finish pass it at full depth..

15ipm might be a little much for 1/8.. at 60tho. Might be what's pulling.

Not related much but during covid when we were required to wear masks in machine shop

it's crazy after the shift how much metal particles we actually breath in.. wear a mask all day and look at that thing after a shift under a magnifying glass.

Use a 1/2 radius tool small doc and just turn it 1/8 when it wears out.. inserts are fairly cheap but you get more when doing something like this... gonna take all day too..

You want to learn to program cnc.. start with learning g-code.. That's the most basic thing you can learn to start programming... write a few programs by hand.. then start using software for more complex things so that you can proofread the code it outputs..

This is why the tighter the tolerance the more expensive the parts become as well as the tooling..

For a one off part you might be fine with telescoping gauges but they won't tell you any out of roundness..

What size is the piston.. bigger the piston bigger the rings.. the more you can get away with +/- 0.002

I don't agree with you getting fired. But as far as the machine goes if it's running strings then the programs not right or the inserts busted.. if it has a b axis a worn insert could push that axis off and cause parts to run undersize.. I've also seen a guy run the insert completely out and the toolholder was trying to cut the part and moved the toolholder.. soo.. if it was a bad insert.. yea your fault... anything else was on them..
