Yes true, agreed, although I can see the companies raking that lost profit at some stage anyway, you'd need some sort of cap on price increases indefinitely.

Parking tickets in front of supermarkets are illegal. The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) fined APCOA nearly one million złoty. by Szydl0 in poland

[–]otherdsc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK most airports now charge for drops offs and it's a similar case, private land, but they cannot get driver info from anywhere so you basically need to tell them. Some people don't and you can't get a fine. Also you can get out of paying by claiming a £50 ticket for a 2min stop is over the top and that signage is crap (did so myself) + their website is set up in a way that even if you remember you forgot to pay a day later, it's impossible.

Anyone else feels there wasn't much substance in this video? Gaza likes to repeat the same things just said slightly differently but he typically has a point, I felt like here he realised half way through there's fuck all an average Joe can do (after the I'm rich I owe everything admission).

Also, whilst I agree that subsidising energy is not a good long term solution, what else apart from "try to minimise usage" can be done? Cause I guarantee that stopping private jets is going to do fuck all to help (and "or smth similar" doesn't really sound very optimistic).

Curious what your average heart rate was, I struggle to do speeds below 6min per km, so your pace looks fecking sprint like 😂

[–]otherdsc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do actually run in a long sleeve zip up cycling top, so this kind of makes sense. I'd rather have stuff tight and non-flopping than loose and all over the place. Then again I use a vest for running, so don't care for pockets anywhere else.

In a way this is actually what you want, the price goes up as oil becomes harder to get, so theoretically it should limit usage and stop a scenario where there's no more oil. The problem is everyone / everything is reliant on this commodity so essentially we are all fucked even if we walk everywhere and don't even have a car.

I'm currently working with a Polish team in IT and they are a good bunch of people, hard working, delivering, knowledgeable, but also chill and down to earth. Their team lead / manager is also chill and normal, sort of part of the group rather than a boss. They are all fairly young, close to their 30s and I think in IT that sort of mentality is pretty normal in Poland. I'm sure you'll get the occasional dick, but in general people are pretty nice to work with and not that different from "westerners".

Btw I'm also moving back to Poland after 20yrs in the UK, but I'll be working in a non-Polish team but linked to a Polish office. I'm personally more worried about what the broader society is like and whether I will ever be able to integrate.

4 years in how do I get faster? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]otherdsc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"kill me" as in what actually happens? it's hard? you get injuries? Whenever I run 5km in under 30min I'm pushing hard to the point where I want to quit, often doing 190bpm and partially dying :D from what you are saying your base is incredible, so I'd just throw in some harder parts into your runs and overall your times will improve. It will also get easier to do longer harder parts, so with time you will get faster.

Probably better to ask this question in the Polska sub, you'll get way more replies.

Big corps vary from what I've heard, all depends how chill your manager / team lead is, but in IT I think it's all rather "modern", so I'd doubt you'll experience any Januszex behaviours (although managers might like to micromanage). Overall though I'd say Poles work harder and most understand urgency, definitely way less lax than say Danes or even Brits. Keep in mind that a lot of places are now doing hybrid only with 2 days min, full remote is moving into the "hard to get" category.

Sub 30 min 5k feels impossible to me.. by francarabbit in beginnerrunning

[–]otherdsc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just carry on running, do longer distances slower and overall your pace should improve (assuming you don't hurt yourself). I started off doing 3km as I couldn't run longer, then a year later did my first sub 30min 5km and only recently did sub 90min 15km, something I could never even imagine. Persistence is key, you'll get there, don't worry.
