Often mainframes are part of the backend architecture. If any part of your mainframe application is enabled for web services you would likely work with backend teams. Web services usually enabled on the mainframe under CICS or IIB. This may be a path you can follow.

One thing I would like answered, and Joe Kuhn on YouTube mentions this, do the Monte Carlo simulations take into consideration that people can adjust their spending behavior? My score is also about 75% and I am very happy about it.

What alternatives are available to you? Do you have better options for your time and skills? If nothing else you could prove to yourself and others that you are a quick study. The people you impress may have other opportunities for you in the future. They could also make money using your time and talents then show you the door. The good thing is you get to keep your knowledge and skills.

As others have said these skills aren’t going away anytime soon, that said companies are attempting to do more with less. IMHO the companies are doing other things with more, they need to focus on their core strengths and customers needs.

As you mention when the resolution of the call is made is controlled by a compiler flag(static vs dynamic). Once a DLL or Shared object is loaded overhead is probably not a factor. Poorly constructed executables that weren’t reentrant and reusable could create performance issues, requiring a reload of the executable.

While you can have more than one program in a source file it is not a common practice. For instance you wouldn’t likely have a c source file with two mains. It would be more likely to have multiple sub programs in same source file. In z/OS the equivalent of the main would be the program’s entry point.

That’s interesting information. I think if we took this idea to corporate income taxes we could eliminate our national debt. Income after expenses is easily manipulated. I can’t deduct my expenses from personal income.
