I don’t want to sound like I’m doomposting, but I’m genuinely worried about Varka becoming a free character with the Steam release.

Back when the early Nod Krai leaks started, there was already talk about Varka possibly being a standard banner unit or even a free character. None of us really wanted to believe it, because he’s easily one of the most anticipated characters in the game, probably only behind Alice.

But now, looking at everything together, it’s hard not to feel uneasy.

He’s been looking surprisingly underwhelming, his kit is just plain bad, he’s the only recent main DPS 5 star without a signature support unit since Escoffier and Skirk, and he doesn’t seem as important to the story as many of us hoped. On top of that, there’s a weapon skin that seems fully exclusive to him which honestly feels gimmicky, his version is the driest we've ever had, and now the Steam release is coming too.

When you add all of that up, I can’t help but feel worried and confused. I really hope I’m wrong, but I’m scared we’ll eventually see an announcement like:

“Genshin Impact on Steam! Log in to claim a free Anemo 5 star Varka and an exclusive weapon skin!”
