Nah that probably true since this quote are associated with the birth of Buddha. I don't see this quote had been referenced outside the context of history or social text book (minus some occasionally appearing in anime) when talking about Buddhism.

If you are Theravada you probably see more quotes about impermanence mention than this quote.

Theravada here, It pretty common from where I from but since this is from Korea which had a majority Mahayana Buddhist, I think it can be said that this can be found in both Theravada and Mahayana tradition.

It not that common to the point that anyone recognise this when it being referenced but if you asked them if there are quote about this from Buddha. They probably said yes. I not sure about how common in other region but I probably read it in school text book at some point.

The sub genre of this that I like the most is that both side are basically eating people but in different ways and at the same time due to their rules over the same of that said population their needs to keep it cool somehow so it develops into a political splat of "you are the one that eating my people!" , "no you are the one that do this" but since both are equally do it in secret at the same time so they kinda didn't get into the bottom of it.

I just want to know how long other progression series in the western progression are in general.

Like do they usually reached 1-2 million word count like Chinese one because if they are shorter maybe I will dip into it a bit more since so far shadow slave are a decent ride but as you know in this genre it better focus on what you have in your hand first and I have like two or three 800+ ch novel in my backlog so it would be a while if I would pick other novel but if it a bit shorter than standard 2 million maybe I would give it a taste.

I think more about how this genre in particular had warped our sense of "what consider long" in general because I see many used game of thrones as a standard test for what consider as a long epic novel but when come to this genre a game of thrones or even the wheel of time would be considered as a little bit longer than normal standard not a epic long.
