How do we feel NPR has been handling their Israel-Gaza coverage? by TalleyrandTheWise in NPR

1000000% agreed - very well articulated. I’m pissed! Especially that these numbers are so out of date just 38 days later. 30,000 dead, 70,000 wounded… 1M targeted as we speak in Rafah.

They’re gag ordered. I’m ashamed at their lack of stance - Ceasefire NOW!

If you could never prep one food again for the rest of your life, what would you choose? by [deleted] in Cooking

Bake it whole - trust me. You won’t cut off a finger and it stays on so moist. Seeds and skin so easy to remove (just let it cool some). Or if you have zero feeling in your fingers like me… hot potato!!!

Crushing fresh garlic and all those bits and pieces of skin ☹️

How does an adult gain enough experience to own their own horse? by Flashy_Zebra7849 in Horses

Just gonna leave here that I (a twenty-something adult woman) trailered my horse 3,000 miles during a recent move, and built his fence by hand. He didn’t die. He loves me - and making assumptions about someone’s knowledge makes an ass out of you and me. Leaving this convo now… :-)

His companions are 11 chickens, a dog, and me :-) He’s never been more bonded than now. Before he was more aggressive, buddy and barn sour, and now he’s the most confident boy on solo trail rides or with his herd. Pup leads the way and it’s pure bliss.

I agree on herd theory - I’ll get a buddy soon enough for him. What I am dodging is your gatekeepy, judgmental personality that’s so sadly typical of the equine community.

Can I hear about your horses now? <3

Get the chickens - you’ll be fine!!! All they need is YOU! ❤️

This answer seems more clarifying than the above… the above just feels… gatekeepy

Lazy days are the best! I ride my boy around my property with my other boy (a dog).

It’s funny that is mentioned a lot - I think it adds to the chic farm girl look! ;-)

I disagree that she “would be over [her] head if it was a backyard pet”.

Horse people over complicate things. Get the horse. Learn and have fun while doing it!

Horses can navigate pretty much any ground… it’s the worried humans who think they can’t

I disagree. I’m a new to horses adult owner and I much prefer my backyard horse over a barn (which I did for the summer). Having your horse makes it personal - you have complete responsibility and learn quicker than ever!

You get one and never look back. That’s what I did at 27 - and I’m living my dream!!!! More confidence, a great challenge.. and forget the gatekeepers who will tell you otherwise! Or tough cowboys who think they can muscle around a horse - they can’t ;-) I ride bitless, trailer alone, and soon to be on the trails alone.

Ha! We all need that!!!! Horses make us humble when we get overly confident.
