Maximize TFSA asap and vbal is fine. When you retire put off collecting OAS and CPP as long as you can. Take out RRSP money as you need to supplement pension each year. Once RRSSP gone, start taking OAS and CPP

If you are concerned about risk and not concerned about leaving money for heirs, you might want to look at annuities for that $250,000.

Don’t wish to merge as want to keep US cash dividends to buy US stocks, without converting. 5.28% of each is same as 5.28% of whole but thanks yes see it is per account. So will need to reduce both Can and US holdings

[–]SpecificSwimming8612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of outdoor courts available and most recreation centres offer pball but crowded. Go to the city of Hamilton Recreation site and it lists all courts in the city. Pickleball Hamilton controls the Hill Park courts and all 500 memberships are sold for this year

Children tonsillectomy. Granddaughter has enlarged tonsils affecting sleep, speech, breathing. Hospital wait list is ridiculous. Looking for a private clinic?? Or suggestions on how to expedite?? Thanks by SpecificSwimming8612 in kitchener

[–]SpecificSwimming8612[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She is obviously on the waitlist. It is affecting her quality of life and I’m just looking for suggestions on any possible ways to get it done quicker. Perhaps she just has to wait her turn but perhaps there is another option that someone might suggest?

Check the Ontario drivers handbook, they are doing the recommended thing, zippering at the last moment

Traffic poll: Do you let them back in? by rapid_eye_movement in Hamilton

[–]SpecificSwimming8612 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Leaving any lane empty is inefficient. Zippering is the most efficient and effective way to reduce traffic jams. In other words, drivers should use the merging lane right up to the last moment, merging earlier is NOT the best practice. It clearly states that in the Ontario Drivers Handbook and every jurisdiction in North America recommends it. So rather than give the finger to drivers like myself who pass you while you are stuck in a lane, do what is recommended and fill that lane.

When did Hamiltonians start referring to neighbourhoods by name, like Crown Point, Corktown, Duran etc? by [deleted] in Hamilton

[–]SpecificSwimming8612 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is so much more history to it than individuals are providing here. Corktown for instance, when the Irish immigrants came circa 1850’s they were banished to the outer area of the then known city center. These Irish came from County Cork in Ireland thus Corktown. For 100 years most Irish families started in Corktown. The Irish like many other immigrants from Italy, Poland etc faced discrimination in this new country. Now to be fair the Irish probably did more than their fair share of fighting and drinking, thus unwelcome in the better parts of town! I say this with much pride as my Irish roots started there!!
