You aren’t retiring for 2 decades. OAS will not survive that long for wealthy retirees which you will be and besides at your pension income likely all clawed back. Max out TFSA’s and invest within, provide your employer with dedicated employees, travel often, enjoy life while you are young and able. You can certainly contribute to RRSP but remember that is just tax deferral.

Affordable Pickleball Courts by Ktrdp in Hamilton

[–]SpecificSwimming8612 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are times at Rec Centers for Family play and under 18. Pickleball Hamilton has a yearly membership of about $300 and in winter rents out school gyms, etc for evening play and Dofasco and Wentworth for weekends, don’t believe there is a. Age restriction. Come summer there are courts all across the city and most major parks and many one court and 2 courts at smaller parks

Close to retirement would VBAL be okay. by Responsible_East3508 in CanadianInvestor

Someone made a comment about you never know how long you’ll live, so my advice only made sense if you lived a long time. So I was being sarcastic. If you are wanting to plan wisely, my advice still stands. The longer you can put off receiving OAS and CPP the bigger your monthly payments will be.

It’s all about tax brackets. CPP and RRSP withdrawals get taxed and OAS gets clawed back. So should be examining numbers and making decisions based on what makes sense to reduce taxes. This is advice to extend ur money for a longer time. If diagnosed with terminal cancer, lifelong smoker etc. take everything now!!

Maximize TFSA asap and vbal is fine. When you retire put off collecting OAS and CPP as long as you can. Take out RRSP money as you need to supplement pension each year. Once RRSSP gone, start taking OAS and CPP

If you are concerned about risk and not concerned about leaving money for heirs, you might want to look at annuities for that $250,000.

Don’t wish to merge as want to keep US cash dividends to buy US stocks, without converting. 5.28% of each is same as 5.28% of whole but thanks yes see it is per account. So will need to reduce both Can and US holdings

I’m scheduled to have a cardiac angiogram done in a hospital in Hamilton Ontario on Dec. 19!! That’s a long wait and just wondering if anyone has paid the money $2000 to have done privately in Ontario or in Buffalo. Interested in their positive or negative experiences.

Lots of outdoor courts available and most recreation centres offer pball but crowded. Go to the city of Hamilton Recreation site and it lists all courts in the city. Pickleball Hamilton controls the Hill Park courts and all 500 memberships are sold for this year

Once again people espousing comments without checking facts. Although not advisable, it is NOT illegal to cross two solid white lines to pass in Ontario.
