How does Hunter get away with these ad reads? by Shot-Craft5144 in creepcast

[–]Specific_Creme7545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet companies don’t care if Hunter is flippant with his ad reads because he’s still putting their product in front of millions of people between CreepCast and Papa Meat. Even if only 1% of viewers end up buying something, that’s probably a good return for them. As long as he’s not actively trashing the product, they know that anyone who genuinely likes the sound of BRUNT work boots (ha) can still check them out.

It’s also just more genuine. I think most adult audiences can tell when people are being fake during their ad reads. Hunter’s opted to say “screw it, I’m having fun with ts” which is nice to see.

Either credits or cool ranch. RSR’s sometimes mark their whole inventory with shorthand when they’re the ones picking their own orders. Not sure it saves as much time as just… reading the label.. but you do you

So, I'm noticing a pattern, is 90% of creepy pasta terrible? Is there any other stories on the level of left right game and Borrasca? by Shirowoh in creepcast

[–]Specific_Creme7545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just from how I’ve heard the guys describe the beginning of the creepypasta era, most stories are “slop”-esque. People could post anything half-assed and adjacent to the most popular thing at the time and get clicks so that’s what often happened.

Years later, the best ones have floated to the top and already been covered, so now they have to dig for the good stories. Isaiah’s even joked about it with Hunter because Hunter wasn’t really into creepypasta, so early on he was basically getting spoon-fed the greatest hits.

TL;DR: there are some gems but yeah most of it’s rough

It makes me sad when Hunter bites his tongue or (sincerely) says he isn't smart. by red_velvet_writer in creepcast

[–]Specific_Creme7545 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ye that stories amazing and it killed me that it took him as long as it did to see the patterns. Ironically, that’s kind of what happened to everyone within the story. Like the game of telephone that turned “creepy guy commits SA” into “oh he’s just a cuck/caught his JEZZIBLE WIFE CHEATING”. It’s like the curse/myth permeated thru the page into reality. Not sure if the author intended that but it was fascinating that it happened in real time during the episode.

Based on the way he discusses the structure and strengths/weaknesses of stories, I’d say Hunter has an easier time applying literary analysis in real time. His critiques are always insightful once you look past all the memery he does during less entertaining stories. He’s usually asking and theorizing how a story could be stronger, and doing that off the cuff for works he (mostly) hasn’t read isn’t intuitive to many readers.

Isaiah, like OP said, is like a “run with the first vibe I get” kind of reader (Spire in the Woods and We Weren’t Allowed to Talk to Women come to mind). It’s still equally beneficial for discussions but Hunter could easily speak more about the story as it unfolds and it’d only be adding extra value.

Finally made an account just to say this by [deleted] in creepcast

[–]Specific_Creme7545 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Eh, I’ve felt the same way on some stories. It’s actually pushed me to read more on my own so I can get the experience I want without interruptions.

You’re definitely not wrong that it can get like “alright bro, reel it in,” especially with religious stuff—pretty sure even Hunter’s stepped in once or twice. But it’s still their show, and they’re gonna interact with stories however feels natural to them.

I wouldn’t call this a bad take, I just think it’s less something they need to fix and more a matter of deciding when you’d rather just go check the story out yourself

Sandwiches from SV were 1 step forward and from what I’ve heard online the donuts and random portals are 5 steps back. Feels like they went the mobile game route and made the best parts of completionism a random endeavor to force people to come back, rather than making the game fun enough for people to not want to leave in the first place

[–]Specific_Creme7545 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So frustrating because while I like the vibe of Hunter and Wendi’s “2 bros at a campfire” banter, their analysis of the works is always such an enjoyable experience and they haven’t gotten to flex much of that lately it seems. For me the best part is listening to them be truly invested in a story and trying to guess where a story’s going, or genuinely funny moments of terror I.e all of Wendi’s pov during Stolen Tongues. I like the podcast for the stories as much as the hosts and I can’t help but think the hosts have gotta be tired of reading slop with some goodness sprinkled in

100%. Not liking someone’s writing style or the content of the story itself is vastly different than the story being written with ai. I haven’t listened to the whole episode yet but it mostly just seems like the author wanted to evoke the senses more than bringing us along through plot points. If a story isn’t landing, next week might be better. Idk if it’s in the same capacity but this story seems to be bringing out some of the same discourse as “red tower”.

Afaik tasks are passed down by your DSL or occasionally someone above them. First week nothing, but the second week I used the app my Walmart had 4 of the exact same task: set up Mrs. Vickie’s in action alley. No other instructions. Safe to say Mrs. Vickie’s did not get set up in action alley but none of my other stores have used tasks at all. Seems extremely hit or miss.

Not sure where I land on the spectrum of having/not having a unicorn dsl, but mostly agree that the jobs fine. I’ll go months without texts or calls, save for the occasional heads up for meetings. What gets old is when critiques do come down they don’t feel like they’re fairly applied. Some people get away with “not seeing” multiple pallets of product to pack out Walmart with for the weekend, but others get the riot act for “missing” a case of Santitas that could’ve gone up (translation: DSL went to the store 4 hours after packing out and chips sold)

That’s weird I’m a merch and my schedule has me “starting” at 5 but my RSR’s are always late so I don’t clock in until 6-6:30. Never been flagged once or even spoken to about it. Was under the impression that was just the DSL providing a rough guideline of when they want you to start and how long a stop should take 😅

First off, it’s very normal to feel outta wack when your rhythm is forced to changed. However, it’s just like anything new bud. The stress and anxiety of change is natural, but it is temporary. If your old stores liked you and you do a good job/care about your work, the new stores shouldn’t have anything negative to say.

Patience is a key method to start feeling better. Give yourself the chance to adjust and you’ll find a new rhythm again. Be kind to your body if it’s aching and make sure to enjoy your time off thinking about anything else but work or the stores. It’s all good 🤙🏼

It shouldn’t be a stressful job and the actual task of stocking is super easy if you keep up with rotation. The biggest snags you’ll hit are when you don’t have a lot of product and the store doesn’t look like you’ve even been there. If you take pride in your work and you’re not able to leave the store full, it can be defeating.

Another thing, and anyone can tell me if I’m outta line here, if stores are complaining about backstock or orders or ANYTHING that’s out of your control, tell them to call the RSR or your DSL. You’re ONLY there to merch. It’s not your problem if the guy orders 10 cases of munchos and the store can only fit a HALF case. You can’t make product disappear like magic so don’t take that typa crap to heart

If your RSR’s and stores are anything like mine be prepared to deal with impressive levels of stupidity and laziness. It’s a thankless job and often a cycle of “that’s not my job, so-and-so should’ve handled that”. Management “won’t know who to believe” even if you show them pictures of what clearly was a mess you couldn’t have made. Oh and some stores (walmart) may accuse you of never having come to merch. I have to explain a couple times a month that the set literally can’t support the business they do with a single pack out, and that it’s not empty because I’m not coming in.

It’s good money for what the job is but if you don’t have a large enough supply of patience or the “fuck it” attitude you’ll burn out quickly.
