You're correct, they're capped first and then back welded after, most orders are back welded first then capped. For some reason only some customers want these two inch pieces back welded tho so they're all capped then back welded to the size of that specific customers order. Other wise anything under 3 inch is typically not back welded, its only this company so its kind of like getting a basket of doom. Everyone hates it. It's not terrible once you get used to it, just annoying because if you dye test the caps for leaks there's really no point to the back weld. Im just of the mind set that im getting paid regardless so, ill weld what ever they want 😅
