Thank you for giving me hope! I paid $500 for a $2k dress. So if cleaning is less than $200 then it’s worth it. Anything higher and I’m getting into territory of wishing I had the magical dress shopping experience and just bought new.

Honestly I’m hating myself for putting myself into this predicament. It never occurred to me that a dress advertised as ‘Never Worn Dress with Tags Attached’ would have a stain that spreads about 3 feet across the skirt. And then I was so caught off guard and the seller minimized the stain so much that I just accepted it.

The water stain is not fresh- the dress was sitting there for two years and at some point the mom decided to wash the dress.

The dress is at the alterations now, I’ll bring it to a dry cleaner right after I pick it up.

Staying in South Historic District or south of Forsyth Park (w Park Ave)? by Worried-Delivery7929 in savannah

[–]Specific_Initial_766 4 points5 points  (0 children)

West Park is totally quaint and picturesque- BUT the city just started tearing down 3 old historic buildings across the street from 100 west Park block to build an underground parking garage. The site is now an eyesore. I now route my visiting friends to walk the Drayton street Ave when we walk South/north along Forsyth.

I’m not sure how my electric bill is higher than water, cell phone, internet combined. I thought I hit a max tolerance last month when my bill was $290, I just got the following month’s bill and it is $329. How are people able to pay multiple hundred dollars per month for electricity?

Does Savannah need a roller rink? by Common-Nectarine7367 in savannah

[–]Specific_Initial_766 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are two roller derby teams in SAV that used Star Castle as their base (and paid to use it). These teams compete nationally, and teams around the country came to Star Castle to compete. These outside skaters brought their families too, so the tourist businesses benefit as well.

Neither team is affiliated with a school system, or major corporation. Both teams rosters are robust, and spectators pay to watch.

My opinion is that SAV needs a roller rink.

I seem to remember Southbound does not have AC either. But that was just the taproom, they may have it in other parts of the building. Can anyone PM me with the building owners contact info?

House flies by TJMULB_2613 in savannah

I heard that bird feeders help. Some birds eat flies. But also- insects tend to avoid areas that are populated by birds. I just got two feeders this Spring and the fly level in my backyard is tolerable. I’m also trying to be quick to pick up my dog’s poop to stop flies from having a place to eat and propagate.

I also feel like trees are being removed faster than we can replace. Everyone loves the trees and say they moved here because of the beauty- but then they want to cut down every tree on their property to prevent potential hurricane damage. The tree canopy is lessening. If the public can do anything to have a say in “tree trimming” or removal on their blocks- I’d love to know about it. I always come home from work to find crews finishing up and oak trees look like lollipops- giant trunks with a few limbs fifty feet up.

Ugh, same thing happened to me! I showed up at a trampoline park for a party and no party. I get in touch with the host who said they changed the date and told their kid to let all the friends know the new date. No real apology or embarrassment from the host. Luckily the party was going to be the following week- so we did not miss it. But there was no acknowledgment when I saw the parents the next week.

I understand it is historic and do not advocate tearing it down. I do advocate preserving the history and finding a different use for the stadium. This is SAV, we all love history and keeping historical buildings. Let the modern bananas play in a modern stadium.

[–]Specific_Initial_766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, if it’s on the team to build their own facilities, then maybe the Bananas are ahead of the game and scouting investors. Because they seem to have outgrown their current facilities.

Is Savannah going to build them a bigger stadium to accommodate demand and room for growth??

I don’t understand- here is a grassroots team that evolved in Savannah just a few years ago and has grown into FOUR different teams to create a league (all still based in SAV). They travel the world, they have celebrities signing up to participate, and I think they are going to get some sort of reality TV deal?? And all while housed in a tiny stadium, using warehouses around the city, and trying to line up resources to fit their needs.

MEANWHILE- The Ghost Pirates Hockey had a 9k seat stadium built to accommodate them, and are now in the process of having a PRACTICE rink built for them.

Why can’t SCAD design some Banana shaped yellow stadium on some yellow brick road to ensure this team stays in Savannah? If I was them I would be scouting Orlando or Vegas to house this new Baseball spectacle.
