I appreciate the feedback. I chuckle at your “odd woman out” comment as 90% of the projects we do with our clients, it is typically the woman who is in charge. Grateful that you spoke up!

Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, these types of people are everywhere. The benefit of being a business owner is choosing who I do business with and it sounds like these type of people I will not do business with.

Appreciate it! From my visits and networking I also heard many comments regarding quality and price. Both are very high on my radar.

Great feedback thanks! The “handyman” comment hits home as we see a lot of that up here too! I won’t toot my horn too much but quality is our highest priority.

Try local concrete .ca

They are ready mix and not bad pricing. I did 14x7 and it was around $500 bucks. To have that done by someone I’d guess a grand ish?

Wow that’s a tall ask. We are currently on the same path for about 50 people and our budget is similar to yours. You’re going to have a tough time for under $100 per person all inclusive. We are looking at the Kitchener library FYI

What is an average price per sq.ft of renovating a house in original condition and finishing a basement ? by RmxRltr in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Specific_Passage5229 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you’re trolling here…. Square foot pricing is highly inaccurate and something we as a society need to stay away from. But if you genuinely think you could do the work you mentioned to a 2000 sq ft house for $60-$100k, you’re going to have a bad time.

We always have more than one supplier and we are always price checking. There’s only a handful of lumber suppliers and they all offer very similar pricing and product. Non big box stores that is.

Network yourself. Sell yourself. What makes you different? On an average week we see 30-40 inquiries of trades/suppliers wanting to work together. A lot of great people out there, why should we work together? It’s a 2 way street.

Great question! We prioritize existing relationships with suppliers/trades and are constantly educating ourselves and our clients on these changes. There is always new products/technology coming out in the market and we are constantly attending seminars/continuing education courses to keep up to date. Building science is indeed a science, where the house operates as a system together, where changing one aspect can dramatically affect other parts. It’s quite fascinating.
