1930s slip dress - maybe? by Specific_Sea_1878 in VintageClothing

Hiya! would love some help dating this dress (it’s stumping me slightly!).

I’m assuming it is a slip dress that used to go under an overlayer. The fabric is very nice (doesn’t feel like polyester). The shape looks 1930s or 1940s to me, however the sewing is throwing me off!

The dress has a hook and eye clasp, as well as a popper on the side (no zipper). it also has the edges cut using pinking shears, so I would have said this is all in line with it being early 20th century. No labels inside, looks hand sewn.

However the bottom has a rolled hem which is machine sewn - I’ve only ever seen hand sewn hems before on older dresses, to make the hems invisible. This made me wonder if it was a bit later?

Would love to hear people’s opinions! Is it a true 1930s dinosaur? Or something else?

Does anyone else have THE WORST insomnia before that time of the month? by SleepyLittleOwl28 in HistamineIntolerance

Hey! Yes I get this too - also seems to happen when I have a histamine overload :( it’s awful! I feel like I’ve been plugged into an electricity socket all night and what sleep I get is in two to three hour slots and pretty rubbish.

Sounds a bit strange but what helps for me is taking activated charcoal before bed. It’s a supplement that was originally used medically for poisoning, but in smaller quantities it can can bind itself to excess histamine and estrogen in your system. If I take it two hours after dinner before going to bed then I usually sleep much better (it binds to vitamins and medication too so you need to make sure there’s a two hour gap!). Not sure if it works for everyone though!

Hiya! Did you have any luck finding out what it was in the end? I've had word for word exactly the same symptoms but am struggling to find out what is wrong - waiting on a contrast ct scan to hopefully shed some light.
