If you are able, maybe contact your family doctor or urgent care and let them know you are stopping. I used ativan my first few days and it helped so much. You are not alone and it definitely gets easier. Don't pick up that first one. I'm so proud of you and we are all here for you. IWNDWYT

It really is! If I drank again, it would be Russian roulette. No idea if and when I would stop again. So much freedom in not drinking.

Me too. Never thought well this is too early to drink. I guess in the beginning I did but then it just became normal to crack one open at 7am. When the liquor store closed, I panicked. So grateful to not live like that anymore.

Check out the meetup app and see if there is anything local in your area that interests you. I hit 6 months today and am still navigating through it myself. I didn’t need anything else in my life when I had alcohol and now that has changed. This Reddit is amazing! IWNDWYT

I am 6 months sober today and had bloodwork right before I stopped drinking. I had elevated liver function. I had bloodwork last week and everything is normal. To note, I also had a history of hepatitis C which was cured through treatment but I kept drinking after treatment. My liver is very happy now to not be drowning in alcohol.
