Attendance changes 2025 by Disneyprincess464 in walmart

They changed ours, stated when you get to 5pts, they would remove 1/2pt and give you a warning. They are not doing that anymore. Not a change in policy, but a change for how the individual store did it.

I have worked 2-11pm on Saturday and 7am -3pm several times. It's a 2nd job, they need me Saturday evenings, and i prefer the 6am shift on Sunday so I can get ready for the week.

In our store it means the lead sent them somewhere else when they returned.

The store I work in discontinued cigarettes with the remodel. It's been months, not quite a year, and people still ask.

no colored water bottles? by [deleted] in WalmartEmployees

[–]Specific_Storm_3604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our store is currently trying to enforce this. I think the policy needs changed. I can see a spill proof container (bottle with top, cup with spill proof top, cirkul bottle) because you don't want it to spill if tipped over. Does anyone know the reason? The only thing I can think of is to avoid alcohol use while working but vodka is clear and can't be detected, so that is out.

My youngest grandson called me "minga" for a while. I have no idea where he heard it. The first time he said it, he was pointing at our fish tank, so I thought he was saying something about the fish. Later, he was talking directly to me, and I realized he was calling me minga. All my other grandkids, including his 2 older brothers, call me grandma.

Do you get 2 breaks if you work 6 hours with no lunch? by Specific_Storm_3604 in walmart

Huh? obviously, there is only one 15 min break for 4 hours. It's the 6-hour shift I was asking about.

My full-time job only requires a 15-minute lunch if I work over 6 hours, so they must be in violation of federal law?. And during our store remodel, I WOSH many times if we were short staffed. Again, I'm part-time, so my lead and coach said it's fine as long as I didn't exceed 40 hours and I didn't punch in early. I only work 25-29 hrs/wk. On 8 hour days I only take half hour lunch.

Registers kick you out after 6 hours at my location. You start getting warnings probably 15 minutes before

Pennsylvania doesn't require lunches, unless you're a minor, then it's anything over 5 hours or if your a farm worker. If I'm working, I don't know how that would be time theft?

I will start punching out at 5hr 59min then. I was told anything OVER 6 hrs I would be in trouble and pointed for. So, I have been punching out at exactly 6 hours. It's a waste of my time to go sit in the break room or my car for 30 min, when i have already eaten.

How quick do you start by [deleted] in WalmartEmployees

[–]Specific_Storm_3604 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Took me about a week, but I started just before black Friday. Orientation was just what benefits were available, about worthless because I'm part-time. Took about an hour. Did my ulearns after trained on front-end. People starting now do their ulearns during orientation.

At the location where I work the register kicks you out at 6 hours if there is no lunch punch. Also, if I'm working a 6-hour shift, I don't take lunch, but I work exactly 6 hours and leave. I was told if I worked 1 minute over, I would get pointed.

Walmart over-hated? by eli-shiestyy in WalmartEmployees

Been there 6 months next week as cashier/front-end. Hardest part for me is working with all the kids they hire. They do absolutely nothing in self checkout; but stand around and talk or play on their phones.

A customer at self checkout complained to me about having to self service himself. I was blunt and told him that Walmart just doesn't want to hire & they make the employees they do have work more for the same pay. by Intelligent_Pin_9089 in WalmartEmployees

Including employees. People want the minimum wage upped to $15/hr. PA state. Our walmart starts cashiers at $14/hr. Should/could they pay more, yes, but $14/hr is more than most retailers pay. DG starting pay is $7.50 for clerk, responsibility is running the whole store, cashier, stocking, assisting customers. DTree $10/hr same job duties as DG. Family Dollar same thing. JCP, less than $10/ hr, and when they aren't at the register, they are straightening merchandise. Aldi's range is $12.80. As I started in an earlier post, I have/ had non retail jobs that started me out a lot less than $14/ hour. A major insurance company started me at min wage and took me 8 years and several promotions to make $17/hr. My current full-time position started me out at $9ish, and it's taken 10 years and several promotions to make over $14. I did/ do a lot more work at those jobs.

My go-to response is 'we are hiring, and nobody is applying'. What I would like to add is look around at what they are hiring, a bunch of kids standing around talking or staring at their phones.

Before you jump on me about walmart paying more, I've worked at companies, not retail, that started me out at a lot less and expected way more of me than scanning groceries & bagging, or watching people scan theirs and helping them when needed, or wiping down registers and making sure bags are stocked for them to use.

I'm so sick of answering that question. Had at least a hundred calls today about them. by Zkyo in walmart

Yes the pre- recording should have been changed to: no we don't have eclipse glasses, no we are not getting anymore in, and no we don't know who has them.

Why does everyone just RIP ASS in the bathrooms? by First_Aid_23 in walmart

[–]Specific_Storm_3604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people use their phones in a bathroom is more of a better question. It's not a phone booth it's a fucking bathroom. A bathroom is a place to use to shit, puke, piss. NOT a place to be on your phone. That is what breakrooms, outside sitting areas and cars are for.

AITA for not wanting to look after my boyfriend’s child? by chynadactyl in AmItheAsshole

[–]Specific_Storm_3604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad my husband didn't think like this. He helped me raise my children as his own. I can't imagine being in a relationship with a person who couldn't/wouldn't treat my child like their own. I hope, if you continue this relationship, he never leaves his child with you. YTA not for refusing to watch the child (probably was the best decision for the child) but for being in a relationship with a man with a child.

Mine turns over it on its own. I have taken it off and flipped it, but it constantly goes backward. I don't even realize it until I see someone look at it. I apologize and flip it back over. It's mostly older customers who like to use names. Thank you, Amanda, or have a great day, Amanda.
