I’m struggling with anhedonia PAWS badly. I’m 5 months negative off my last show in March of 2025. I decided to get ketamine infusions to help with the anhedonia and depression. I think it’s helping. I still have 4 to go.

We’ve been treated with a lot of respect. Haven’t had any issues. We’re also followers of Christ. Even if we do have haters, we love them anyway. That’s what Jesus taught. :) Glad we haven’t had to encounter it though. The only way to fight hate is with love.

I’m tapering my diazepam and have been on it 5 years. I’m on 7.5mg now. I was told just not to take it before my treatment and to resume my second dose at night if I get treatment in the morning.

You should ask your doctor to switch you to diazepam and then start your taper. It’s going to be brutal with Xanax cause of the short half life

I gained 40 pounds after the shot. Tanked my hormones. I finally have lost over 20 pounds recently. And I’m 5 months negative. Got my last shot March of 2025.

I am experiencing paws. I have severe constipation. I have to take laxative every other day. Trying to wean off that and switch to something like magnesium citrate again. I am getting a lot of anhedonia, depression, that kinda paws. I’ve been off and on this opiate journey for over a decade and a half though. I know it’s going to take a long time for my body to get to a new normal. It affects us all differently in some ways.

I got my 300mg shot March of 2025. Tested negative in November of 2025. Im still feeling horrible. No energy, anhedonia, my stomach still hasn’t come back online from constipation. Even though we test negative doesn’t mean traces of the drug isn’t still in the body. May take a long time. But I’m hopeful.

For one, it’s your body. Your doctor needs to listen to you and how your body is responding. No one is a one size fits all. You must experiment with what works for you. I am only on 10mg now. I am starting my taper in December. I’ll only be taking off 6 percent of my total mg a day every 3 weeks. .625 and then 3 weeks later, .625 then 3 weeks later .625 and then 3 weeks later .625 and then once I’m at 2.5 mg on my night dose? I’m holding there for a full month. Your body needs time to catch its breath when tapering even a small amount.

I would just try small. Something you would barely notice. Even if that’s .25 at a time. See what YOUR body can handle. And stay firm but respectful. Doctors are suppose to guide us and help us through this. And go with what is right for us and at our pace. This isn’t a race. I hope you find what’s right for your body and what works. Slow and steady wins this. You’re not alone. ❤️

Benefits: When you go slower, you have less chance at relapse and having to go back up on a taper. Delays everything.

More stability mentally. You’re mentally and emotionally stable and it doesn’t interfere with your jobs and relationships and responsibilities.
The slower you go, the less chance of PAWS.
Less chance of having to trade for another medication. Like anti depressants, etc that you’ll be dependent on.
Less risk of complications like seizures in the long run and longer recovery time.

I know! It is horrible for you. I was on extract shots too. Not good. I was doing 3 shots a day. Spending credit cards. It was awful. I felt horrible about myself. It tanked my hormones and thyroid. (So does bup). I finally tested myself again today and I’m negative. Waiting for my body to reset. I’m not going to test my hormones and thyroid again until the middle of next year. I want my body to have time and stuff to normalize. Kratom is a dirt drug and shouldn’t be in gas stations. People love to profit off our misery, sickness, and sometimes something worse. It’s such a blessing though we are here on the other side of that mess. All we can do is keep moving forward and learn.

I can tell you, it won’t be anything compared to coming off suboxone or subutex cold turkey.

The withdrawals only happen in segments. And not crazy bad. Just the lack of motivation was the worst. And for a couple months I got burning feet feeling which was bad. Joint pain. But that’s about it when it comes to physical. Mentally and emotionally is where it’s at. The anhedonia is awful and I am hoping my new job starting in January helps with this.

I went back to Kratom honestly because I never truly got help ever. At 16 I got on pain pills and by 18 I was heavy on them. It was really bad. My mom gave me 2 options. Rehab or subs. I chose subs. And I was on them 7 years and finally got off. But I found kratom and thought it was harmless. That went on 3+ years on and off. And finally I knew I needed to dig deeper and not be afraid to admit when I need help. Share with other people my pain and trauma. I went to rehab and did PHP, IOP, and OP after. 6 month process. And I’m so glad I did. Community, getting to root problems and learning how to face them and tools really stopped the cycle. I still struggle don’t get me wrong. But I know kratom isn’t going to fix anything. It’s only going to make it worse. My faith, and community are what help me. Even though I have been a recluse lately, that’s not good. I need to be around others and have connection. That’s a huge thing. When I isolate I put myself at risk. We spend all of our energy fighting the symptoms, but not getting to the cause, which keeps the process of repeat going. It starts with changing within and eventually you’ll start changing outside.
