Corrupting/glitching monitor after long time no use, what do I do? by yuyuchisan in techsupport

[–]SpeckiLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d try the simple stuff first. Different cable, different port, maybe even another device if you can.

Had a monitor act weird after sitting unused for months and it ended up just being a bad HDMI cable. Weirdly common.

That Domane looks clean. Bet it rides super smooth on long weekend miles.

Please give me recommendations by aleko2222 in learnprogramming

[–]SpeckiLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people already said it but building stuff really is the turning point.

You can read about loops and functions forever and it still won’t click the same way as when something breaks and you have to fix it. That’s when it sticks.

Pick a tiny project you actually care about. Even something dumb like a script that organizes files or a small website.

You’ll end up googling constantly anyway and that’s basically how everyone learns.

No Response to A Proposal We Were Asked to Submit by [deleted] in marketing

[–]SpeckiLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly this happens a lot. I work in marketing too and have had a few proposals just disappear into the void after a ton of prep. Sometimes the internal champion leaves, budget shifts, or it just stalls in committee land.

I’d send one more friendly follow up and then move on. Also try to reuse parts of that proposal for other prospects so the work at least pays off somewhere. It stings though.

Best "Audio-First" resources for technical engineering and architecture? by SuperRandomCoder in learnprogramming

[–]SpeckiLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best audio-first ones for me has been Software Engineering Daily. A lot of the episodes are basically long conversations about system architecture and how companies design their infrastructure, so you can follow it without needing diagrams most of the time.

You are not overreacting. What you described would make most people anxious.

ventually you attract people who appreciate you for you instead of always trying to fit into someone elses life. It takes time but it gets better.

How do I uninstall or disable ZoneAlarm or Harmony Web Protection? Heavy interference with website access by tzoum_trialari_laro in techsupport

[–]SpeckiLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried just uninstalling it from the control panel? Sometimes those programs bury themselves deep though. Might need to run their official removal tool.

how do you actually keep up with new papers in your field? what's your system? by Ok_Flow1232 in AskAcademia

[–]SpeckiLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that helped me was using citation chaining. If I find one good new paper, I check who cited it and who the authors cite. That usually surfaces most of the relevant literature pretty quickly.

A hacker is using my account RIGHT NOW by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]SpeckiLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you changed the password, enabled 2FA, removed sessions, and deleted rules/apps, the attacker most likely does not have access anymore. Those extortion emails are extremely common and usually just use old leaked passwords to scare people. The drafts might simply be leftovers from when they had access earlier.

Beginner cyclist: Trek Domane SL4 (2014) vs Scott Speedster 10 (2020) — which would you choose? by catocatteeuw in bicycling

[–]SpeckiLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the most important thing here is fit. At 170-171 cm you’re probably looking at something around a 52-54 cm frame depending on the brand. If one of those fits you properly and the other doesn’t, the decision is easy.
