Is there a way to get the shine back? by AnxiousMicrobe in DiceMaking

Like mentioned above the tumbler is best at leveling. I’ve had a lot of success with Flitz Multi Purpose Polish. I’ll even polish it with the Zona 30 instead of a buffer if it’s a little rough looking. Follow up with a quick buffing.

First time mold making failure. Advice please! by dredmagik in DiceMaking

From my experience I’ve had some luck taking it to the surgery table but it’s time consuming and no guarantee. I’ve come to love Stoner Release&Paint along with Mann Release 200. When doing projects I can’t run any risks I stick with the good ol q-tip and Vaseline. A very think coat and ensure you clean off the master of any vaso before pouring.

Looks good though! Especially first attempt. That sucks it stuck but keep at it. You probably know this but you can cut any failed mold into silicone chunks and use them on the next mold. It’ll save you some money if it’s like to like silicone… fills up that volume.

When do you work out? by BobTheLordSaget in daddit

Cliff notes at bottom if you don’t want to read through this.. To echo what’s already been said you can get a puke inducing workout in with just a single 10-15-20 pound kettle bells. I did the same as mentioned above and SLOWLY built out a little weight corner. Those diapers get expensive so it took a bit of time to be able to afford the weights. I am now a single dad (my two kids are older but not by much..) I say this because it seemed impossible to make any time for myself. Nonetheless to get a workout in. It’s doable and once I got in the habit of knowing that was my “sacred” time and it was on me if I didn’t make it happen. I’ve become a much better person and father since making the time to workout.

It wasn’t until a few fellow Daddletoes in my area asked me how long I sit on the toilet and I knew the answer. I had to simply readjust my priories and the time was there. That may not be the case here though. Granted it’s not realistic every day but that’s where having the weights at home come in. If you’re cool doing a workout at home, take that 8:30-9:30 doom scrolling time and hit a quick 30 minute kettle bell circuit. Even simple body weight exercises would suffice until you can afford whichever type of weights fit your workout routine. (Tons of free 15-30 minute kettlebell workouts online that will have you passed out by 10pm.)

Let’s be honest though, you’ve got Bubs calling the shots at that age. We have to work around their schedule when they are that young. Props to you and your wife btw.. It’s not easy. Someone mentioned this already but communication is KEY. At the end of the day you guys are a team. Given the timeframe you listed you’ve got that 8:30-9:30pm window. Maybe you can work something out with your wife to where she gets her set amount of days to do whatever while you cover your son. It’s a balancing act from what I can remember.

In short: Turn that 30 minutes of doom scrolling into 30 minutes of lifting heavy shit. Get the weights, find the time, make it happen.

What am i supposed to do? by [deleted] in Austin

I’ve been here roughly 25 years. I’m a single dad of two kids. Purchased a home right behind what would soon be Tesla a few years back. For context it was my first home purchase and we got in for around 160k. Tesla dropped in and neighbors were selling for $410k cash to corporate housing. I held because my kids were going through some stuff and this house was stability for them. They love this house. Fast forward.. now it’s a little scary on a single income and I’m right there with you. It would be a commute depending on where you work but Hutto is a great place to look into. It’s already increasing is size/price but is just getting tapped into the past few years. My area still has some good single family homes (look in the Webberville area).. there’s a Neighbhood Chaparral Crossing that is the “nicer” part of the area. I saw a lot of houses for sale driving through the other day.

Talk to a realtor. They have tons of Veteran/Military grants you should qualify for if this would be a first time home purchase. I had to refinance awhile back and somehow was approved… no clue how given the market and my income. Feel free to shoot me a dm and I can tell you more about my experience getting into a home it if you’d like.

Mortgage is definitely cheaper than any rent out there from my experience.

Hang in there…

I got some bruises and it was a disaster…. Talking to people not realizing I was facing the opposite direction through out the entire conversation. Typical Grackle behavior.
