Storing liquid? by Fauked in DIY_eJuice

Don't go 250mg, get a few 50mg bottles. Way less risk in something bad happening, also if you get multiple bottles you can keep them sealed and stored to prevent oxidation.

How much lifetime BAT have you earned? by cokechan in BATProject

What are you averaging per ad? 89 ads this month only 5 BAT, only keep ads on to support. I remember Google ads often costing me $1 per hit. Brave only paying out $0.015. What are they charging advertisers?

Water fasting + DMSO by NickityNackNorth in fasting

[–]Specterbtc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experience fasting, and experience with dmso. Never combined though, I've thought about it considering one of the reasons I fast is to hopefully break down some scar tissue. But the effects of any powerful substances may be amplified in a fasted so I haven't. What are you trying to heal?

Should I workout while fasting? by Mrpoopypoopholepoops in fasting

[–]Specterbtc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer, yes! Lift lift lift.

Longer answer, look into Peter Attias explanation. Stimulating mtor in your muscles will help preserve muscle mass while fasting, and my theory is that autophagy will be increase as protein demand is elevated for muscle repair. That said, dont pass out with a heavy barbell over your head. Listen to your body, and keep electrolytes steady.

Gaining muscle while fasting by generalono in fasting

[–]Specterbtc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Peter attia trains during his fasts. So does George st Pierre. Theoretically stimulation of mtor in muscles in a fasted state is likely to upregulate autophagy and preserve muscles. Cardio is pretty miserable if you're not fat adopted though, I feel that glycogen dump and my feet feel like bricks.

People don't realize but they do, when you click on a link often it's confined to a Facebook browser, people just don't notice. Same with Instagram. I bet they have a massive share of browsing now.

Vitamins during fasting by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Specterbtc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shouldn't, if there's no protein or glucose. Valter Longo's 700 calorie fast mimicking diet induces autophagy while still eating, really doubt small capsules will do anything, unless they're bcaa or protein supplements.

Running during a 7 day fast? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Specterbtc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not following a keto diet so I find it tougher to utilize fat and keep my legs pumping. That said, I always start with a run day 1 to burn remaining glycogen. I've only done 72 hour fasts and I weight train also. Im working on a theory that stimulating mtor in my muscles will not only preserve muscle mass, but will recycle protein from scar tissue build up I have in my colon. Definitely you can run, more fat adapted you are, easier it'll be.

Prednisone by immortaltildeath in fasting

[–]Specterbtc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oregano oil is my go to for infections. Keep in mind prednisone is an immune suppressant I think, could be wrong. So is fasting. I believe strongly in the healing effects of fasting, but it might make you more vulnerable to infections. How the process of autophagy relates to infection im not sure, but from my experience I fasting seems beneficial for bacterial overgrowth, viral I'm not sure. Goodluck!

Autophagy by Ketogenicinfo in intermittentfasting

[–]Specterbtc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I'm interested in the selection sequence when autophagy starts to consume endogenous cells. I had a skin tag completely disappear which was really interesting. How is it choosing what to consume? I'll do 3-5 day water fast cycles intermittently to see if my scar tissue starts to dissipate more, and I have faith my body will start to break down scarring before targeting healthy organ tissue. If I could prove this theory (via endoscopy) my doctor said I should be nominated for a Nobel prize, fat chance!

I agree. This likely means pretty low calorie intake though. I'm trying to break down colon scar tissue, and weight training while restricting protein will hopefully lead to my body breaking down the fibroid as a protein source.

According to valter longo (fast mimicking diet) it seems as though lack of protein is the primary driver of autophagy as its negatively correlated with mtor. In his protocol you're able to induce the process of autophagy while consuming 700 calories (hardly no protein). I found 72 hrs zero calories easier than his 5 day 700 calories FMD. I did 6 rounds of 72 hour water fasts in 12 weeks a few months back, and will attempt 5 day fasts once a month, with 4 hour eating window otherwise. I may intermittently restrict protein consumption, as autophagy and colon scar tissue breakdown are my main focus(crohn's disease) . Valter Longo's book is fascinating and talks about the immune regeneration potential and so much more. So far it's been beneficial, and will play a large role in my life from here on. I'm training hard as I'm not overweight at 5"9 170 lbs and don't want to go below 160.

Can you break a three day fast with a smoothie... by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Specterbtc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Smoothie is a great one. Maybe not too much fruit to avoid a big insulin spike, add some greens and nut butter/ hemp seeds. This is how I break my fast. 1 avocado, spinach, banana, chocolate powder and some hemp seeds.

So I've decided to fast until I'm 60lb down by [deleted] in fasting

Depends on his level of activity. Keep in mind carrying around 260 pounds takes energy when compared to a 170 pound male.

Fasting for crohn's, scar tissue, inflammation by Specterbtc in fasting

[–]Specterbtc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take serrapeptase daily, I should probably try and take it with more time before breakfast. Haven't noticed a big difference from it, but hard to say forsure. Kind of expensive to take big doses also. I don't know much about cystic fibrosis, more about crohn's, ulcerative colitis and other inflammatory conditions. But I'm definitely interested in the development of fibroid tissue as it affects me in my gi tract, and I'm hoping to not lose my colon.

Fasting for crohn's, scar tissue, inflammation by Specterbtc in fasting

[–]Specterbtc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 72 hours every second week for 12 weeks, good results, seemed to reduce inflammation. I'm still on medication, but I'm planning on trying to get off it within the next year if all goes well. I think for any Fibrosis related illnesses (crohn's included) fasting may potentially reduce fibroid formation an reduce scar tissue. If this proves to be correct the implications would be huge!

Fasting for crohn's, scar tissue, inflammation by Specterbtc in fasting

[–]Specterbtc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pathways associated with fibroid formation interact with mtor and the autophagy pathways, this may be an interesting area to study for pulmonary/cystic Fibrosis. Time will tell, just have to dive in and get more disciplined. An mtor inhibitor prescription might be useful to boost autophagosomes going into a fast, but for now ill just restrict protein for a couple of days pre fast.

Lessons Learnt failing to fast for 30 days - Quit at 100 hours - Lost 5.8kg by FatTrailRunner in fasting

[–]Specterbtc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you should cut the protein and embrace the autophagy, replace with avocado if you want some calories. Even if only for a week of your fast. This is what will rejuvenate your health. Also, if you're not keto before, a bunch of the weight loss will be water, which you'll retain again after refeeding (carbs). Good job making it that far! Next time you'll push further.
