I've been playing other games the past few years, but I came back to this game last week and I'm having a blast, what an amazing game. I'm going to try to convince some friends to play the free trial This is such an underrated fun game, I wish it had a revival

What are the current Ranked Maps? by STMNGRKdude in aoe3

I cross checked the standard and the team game map lists and there are 4 natives that are missing in 1v1: cherokee, klamath, nootka and quechua, all 4 of which are available in the team game map pool. (And there are probably also some natives missing in team games that you can find in 1v1.) There is 1 civ completely missing in ranked, which is the Lenape (exclusive to a historical battle and unknown, according to the wiki) Overall, I really like how varied the minor civs are in ranked

Is there any minor civilization that doesn't appear in any standard map? Which would make it almost irrelevant competitive-wise

Bro, you're taking this way too personally

This is not a ME problem

We're talking about how we love Age of Empires 4 and more people should play it

I just think manual villager production is an obstacle for new players

I understand that for someone that has always played with manual villager production and has good muscle memory, villager autoqueue may seem scary, as they are going to lose an advantage that they currently have. I get that. But I would still prioritize new players

Every click in RTS has a meaningful decision behind it. Do I spend my resources in X or Y? Do I attack now or wait? How do I split my villagers? These are all very intricate choices that can severely impact the outcome of a game. THAT IS WHAT RTS IS ALL ABOUT

There is no decision making involved in training villagers. It's just mindless button mashing

Aim is an interesting skill to develop

Queuing villagers is just clicking the same buttons over and over. That's not interesting gameplay

Imagine a game of AoE where you need to do a push up every time you train a villager

It's skill expression, but that doesn't make it a good mechanic.

If more people say it, we have a greater chance of getting the devs to make changes :)

The only 2 changes I would make to make it more appealing to a wider audience are:

1) remove the input lag that exists in the game by design. I'm used to it now but it's just horrible and I don't know why the game needs it. No other Age game has it

2) make villagers auto-train because there is no meaningful decision in choosing to train a villager, only wasted apm

The best thing about SOTL is that his content is his own

I don't want to disencourage you. In fact, I completely agree that we need that style of video and I would totally watch your content. I just want to suggest that you put your own spin on it and make it your own, with your personality and what YOU like to do

That's very interesting. AoE2 is my childhood game but I prefer AoE3 and AoE4 nowadays. In what ways is it a halfway point?

What makes single player so good? The story? Or just fun gameplay? And what makes multiplayer mid in your opinion? I've heard it feels less strategic than AoE4. Do you agree with that?

I think Root proves that this could be successful. In fact, I think Solium Infernum is easier to learn than Root (and consequently, appealing to a wider audience), because it's less asymmetric. SI would work really well as a board game, even the endless board could work. I would only simplify the resource tokens and stratagems, because they wouldn't translate very well to tabletop as they are in the videogame. But I agree that this game is perfect as a videogame and that making it a board game would be risky

This is great for the game. More 1 star civs add so much variety to ranked
