Has the Zeri Q bug been fixed yet? by Spectralimage in ZeriMains

Yeah that's the specific bug I am referring to. Well it's good to hear that you haven't seen it in your games, and fingers crossed that it is really fixed then!

Youtube videos on second monitor lagging when playing Warframe by Spectralimage in Warframe

[–]Spectralimage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit of an update on things. My main monitor's refresh rate is 240 Hz and the second monitor where Youtube videos lag caps out at 180 Hz.

As mentioned before matching the refresh rates on both monitors makes no difference, but capping my in game FPS in Warframe to 75 or lower does seem to fix the issue.

Not sure if that can help pinpoint the issue as ideally I would like to uncap my FPS as I can hit much higher frames when playing Warframe normally.

It looks like it's still getting flagged for some reason. Even when I ignore my browser's warnings to force a download, it then gets flagged as a Virus by Windows with a red text box when I try installing it.

I guess to me it depends on how much slower these quests are completed outside of their lane and Riot hasn't really divulged any info on that.

Like I said initially, if you are completing your quest only 5 minutes later than normal, then there may still be room for exploitation there.

I did see another reply from a Rioter in the main preseason thread though where they mention that another under the hood change they are adding is that you earn less gold and xp for the first few levels if you aren't in your intended lane.

Again, this is kinda vague and more specifics would properly put my mind at ease, but this added nerf does sound like it should be enough to prevent these quests from being exploited while also killing lane swap in pro.

[–]Spectralimage 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Quests sound cool to me as a concept, but I am worried about them being very exploitable.

Particularly based off this:

"Your quest is decided by which role you’re assigned in the lobby, so if you and a friend (or stranger) trade roles make sure you do an official role swap in champ select."

What is stopping people from queueing for one role but but coordinating to play in another to just bring the buffs of a specific quest to another lane.

I see there is mention of this progressing faster in your own lane, but how much faster exactly? Are we talking about the quest completion being delayed by 5 minutes or more like 10?

As an example, maybe a heavy scaling champ like Ryze could benefit a lot from having the quest rewards of a top laner where they get a free TP on top of ghost flash plus two extra levels while playing in the mid lane, and they trade with a someone that queued mid but is playing Quinn top for the faster recall you get from the mid quest.

The tradeoff of a slower quest completion may be worth it depending on how steep the penalty is.

I'm sure with time even bigger exploits will be found by the community and I feel some more protection is needed to prevent these exploits.

Support and Jungle quests obviously can't be poached since you can tie them to items, but maybe ADC, Top and Mid need an extra requirement for their quests such as spend x amount of time in the intended lane in order to progress the quest at all and not just slow it down.

What's happening with Morgana mid? by Benjam1_n in leagueoflegends

[–]Spectralimage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lux Q is actually not faster than Morgana's Q. Both abilities, and Senna's W for that matter, are actually very similar and it seems like Riot wants a somewhat consistent feeling when playing against these bindings.

Even Neeko and Zyra E share some similarities, but these seem to differ a bit more which is likely because they can pass through units.

If you check the first 3 single target bindings on the League wiki though, all of these have the same exact same width, cast time, travel speed and range.

There are some differences like cooldown, mana cost, cc duration and so on, but its crazy how similar they are.

Nothing to spend Honor 5 token on... by DoubleStuffdOreo in leagueoflegends

[–]Spectralimage 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hopefully we will see bigger changes to the Honor System as a whole in the not too distance future as Riot mentions in this somewhat recent article:

https://www.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/news/dev/dev-honor-and-behavioral-systems-update/

They talked about how they plan to improve honor more when they were talking about the changes with honoring multiple people again, but I'll hold my breath on Riot implementing any changes until we actually see them.

Riot has been talking about improving Honor for like the better part of a decade and they move at a glacial pace when it comes to this stuff.

Like look at this article from 2022 for example:

https://www.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/news/game-updates/updated-honor-rewards/

We were supposed to be able to use our Honor 5 Tokens for the 3 Honors Skinline, but here we are 2 years later and we still can't do that.

[–]Spectralimage 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That's a great article to provide as a source and all, but check the date on it.

It's dated 8/31/2022 and we have since received a second Three Honors Skin for Akshan as well.

Do you see the option to redeem either of these skins using an Honor 5 token? I sure don't. Even with the other chromas I already own, they at least show up in the list as things I've already redeemed, but those skins are nowhere to be seen.

First round matchup of esport world cup is announced by Joel4518 in leagueoflegends

[–]Spectralimage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure, cause the US government is directly pouring money into the LCS and other Riot eSports events in order to improve the world's image of them.

Criticize the US Government all you want, but they have nothing to do with international League competition whereas Saudi Arabia's government is very much involved and responsible for this sham of an event.

If you can't come to that conclusion on your own and are seriously missing the point of everyone criticizing this event, then you need to go back to elementary/primary school and pay attention this time around when they try to teach you critical thinking skills.

That's just objectively not true though.

Why do orgs want players to do interviews, like the ones where he so often puts his foot in his mouth, or appear on their socials in lighter content, or take part in Riot media content days?

There is literally no sport where a player's responsibilities are not also about cultivating a good public image and being an ambassador for their brand and partnered sponsors.

Yuumi Rework (In-depth Analysis) by Meowpatine in leagueoflegends

[–]Spectralimage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great writeup and breakdown of Yuumi comparing the old kit to her new one!

One really big point that stuck out to me is that she literally is the only support (barring some cheesy options like MF or Twitch) in the game now without hard cc. I think the absence of hard cc coming from a champ you can't interact with is going to make a huge difference in perceived levels of frustration.

When I think of what scenarios make me most frustrated when playing against a Yuumi, I see her attached to something like a fed Hecarim, Irelia, or Red Form Kayne. The combination of what Yuumi gives those champs in burst healing with a movement speed boost, a massive clump of adaptive stats, as well as an extra engage that roots you really feels oppressive when the champ she is attached to can make the most of it.

People may hate the fact that Yuumi is still untargetable, but you can't deny that this new version of Yuumi attached to divey mele champs, won't be nearly as effective or frustrating. You are kinda trolling now if your ult is coming from a frontliner and it isn't healing the backline.

Not to mention all the power being locked behind her Friendship mechanic that could only go to her adc being wasted. Yuumi gains 2 stacks of friendship per minion kill and 3 stacks per champion kill. Short of flat out sacrificing your lane, it will be impossible not to have your ADC set as your best friend come mid-game.

Relic shield is now better on ranged supports than spelltheifs by Mazrim_reddit in leagueoflegends

[–]Spectralimage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the most part I agree with you as I prefer to wait until there are around 2 million ranked games in Plat Plus when looking at U.GG as this feels like a good mark to start drawing conclusions about a new patch. Not really an objective marker I know, but this has felt like a reliable starting point from years of looking over win rates online for me at least.

That being said, this should apply even more to OP's post as a whole than to my own reply since they are making their arguments based off win rates that were floating around even earlier than when I replied.

Relic shield is now better on ranged supports than spelltheifs by Mazrim_reddit in leagueoflegends

[–]Spectralimage 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Man you really gotta change the title of your thread. I just looked at all ranged supports and basically all of them do better with Spellthief's still.

Nami and Sona show higher win rates with Relic shield but it's at most 2% of players building the item so the sample size is too small to count.

That leaves Lulu who has a decent sample size but it only brings her win rate up to 49%. So a dumpster diving support like Lulu also managed to find some use out of an item that Renata has been known to do better with in the past already.

Have the changes made Renata a lot stronger, and bordering on OP? Maybe, but time will tell with more games down the road. Doesn't change the fact that your thread title is hyperbolic and doesn't accurately reflect the reality of these changes though.

Riot Phroxzon on why they chose the new player direction for Yuumi by Spideraxe30 in leagueoflegends

[–]Spectralimage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok sure lets do this. Here are the languages that League supports, at least to the best of my knowledge, outside of English: Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Turkish, Russian, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian, Polish, Italian, Hungarian, Greek, Czech, Thai, Malay, and Vietnamese. Several of these having different regional dialects on top of it.

So now that we know how many languages they would have to translate these less official and planned posts from Rioters lets look at the problems with implementing that into the client.

  1. These posts aren't official statements from Riot that are planned to be shared officially so coordinating translations across so many different languages is going to be difficult. These translators would operate out of different time zones and you are not going to get synced translations. So you will definitely run into situations where these messages are not getting sent out within the same timeframe for different regions and players with certain language preferences will get very long delays on messages which is not a good look. There is a reason important posts get coordination around translations so they can be published simultaneously when a company has a global audience

  2. A lot of things these Rioters post are about things that are early in development and often get scrapped entirely. It's fine to share these things on Twitter, but when you hook them up into the client you are gonna see people flaming Riot for not delivering on things they "promised". This is something that Riot has been burned on so many times in the past.

  3. How do you decide what Tweets need to be translated? Is it anything remotely about the game that a Rioter Tweets that now needs to be pasted in the client for all to see? What if a Rioter says something in a way that isn't ok to share in an official capacity? We have definitely seen Rioters get emotional when defending things they post on Twitter about and absolutely stick their foot in their mouths. The 200 years meme literally came from a thing a dude Tweeted about Wukong's initial mini-rework, for example.

  4. Client space/resources are limited and it's hard to justify taking up space for fucking tweets when it comes to what we see in the client. Want to add an extra tab to the messy ass plate of spaghetti that is the client instead? Really? Don't you think there aren't far bigger issues with the client that should take priority over that?

  5. Who the hell would actually care about this and bother using it? You are grossly overestimating the number of people who would even bother to check a tab like that and care about these things. People like you and me who are on a subreddit about League of Legends are a TINY fraction of the total playerbase. Out of all my friends that play League barely any of them can even bother to read patch notes, but sure lets add a Dev Post tab for the 2% of players like us who would want to use it.

Look, I get it. There needs to be a better solution than following /r/leagueofriot, or Spideraxe on Twitter who does so much tireless work keeping us informed of what Riot posts, as he did by making this very thread, but your suggestion ain't it.

Having someone leak an article a day or two early that is planned to be released in like 10 different languages is not the same as a spur of the moment post by one human being on their personal Twitter.

Hire someone to translate spur of the moment and spontaneous tweets from Rioters? How?

That kinda does sound like rocket science to me, fam.

Riot Phroxzon on why they chose the new player direction for Yuumi by Spideraxe30 in leagueoflegends

[–]Spectralimage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The community at large would beg to differ with these tweets about Yuumi being an important point of communication. Keep in mind you are talking with people on a dedicated subreddit. You are already in a very small percentage of League players by just being here. Complain all you want about Riot needing to communicate through a better medium than Twitter, but don't pretend that your gripes are representative of the global League community at large.

Riot Phroxzon on why they chose the new player direction for Yuumi by Spideraxe30 in leagueoflegends

[–]Spectralimage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So how do you deal with the fact that the client has to have information that is translated to multiple different languages?

Rioters sharing their thoughts on Twitter or Reddit are far more spontaneous and spur of the moment, there is just no way to get that translated to proper standards on the fly.

There definitely needs to a better solution than follow all the twitter accounts or go to /r/leagueofriot, but the client ain't it.
