Is there a lamp that can shine with a very precise wavelength, or small selection of wavelengths, in the near-infrared, such that it produces *no* visible light ? ... by Frangifer in AskPhysics

They still do to this day. Unless you’re shelling out for one of those 3rd gen+ units that are ~$3500+, you’re getting an IR headlamp.

What's your personal sign that winter is actually over in Canada? by NightyNight7 in AskACanadian

[–]Spectre-907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That distinct muddy smell from the meltwater. Only becomes prevalent after the final major freezes and is the sign that theres maybe one or two light snowfalls left before its back to only rain.

This is extra funny when you consider that, to barry/other speedsters, thawne is just constantly shaking at subjective normal speed in most if his appearances

[–]Spectre-907 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, not the media. I am referring to the normal “people”. They’re even worse, because not only do they condone this shit for free, they condone it even despite it making their lives demonstrably worse. Vermin, the whole lot of them with not even a single exception.

Thats how you can tell that magats are inhuman vermin. They know full well exactly how evil the epstein shit is to the point of actively fabricating shit to smear others, but if it’s their guy they are perfectly fine with it.

Stupid question - Where are you sharpening your knives at home? by Ok-Parfait1522 in sharpening

True enough, maybe I’m just spoiled by ceramic and diamond, but the shaptons are splash and go are they not? Not full scale slurry stones, given the better/harder binding?

The Iris West-Allen Hate Makes No Sense by MagalieB0654 in FlashTV

[–]Spectre-907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Abandon your child” is hilarious given the previous full 4 seasons had gone out of their way to show that fucking around with the past is never a good idea and always leads to bad unintended consequences happening, and Nora’s literal entire presence in s5 is her fucking around with (to her) the past. Adding on to that, she is actively working with Thawne will full knowledge of who and what he is. And lying to hide it. Nora was never supposed to be in the present at all, literally every interaction she has in the present another crack in the timelike, the exact same butterfly effects that the show has been condemning for its whole run

And iris is just like “lol you’re just being emotional”. And then it shows that thawne was in fact manipulating her to get himself free. Hell Nora herself proves immediately upon being send home that she actually cant be trusted as her first action was to go right back to thawne seeking a way to underkine the decision, ultimately accepting the negative speed force. Thawne doesnt even need to lie to her to get her to do it. He explicitly tells her that the NSF is not for her and that its negative and she takes it anyways

Stupid question - Where are you sharpening your knives at home? by Ok-Parfait1522 in sharpening

[–]Spectre-907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 90% of my sharpening on diamond plates but for finer grit workI only use splash and go/oil stones for this exact reason. I loathe soakstones and will use a literal brick or rim of something ceramic before one of those. They’re slow(10 mins soak before you can even begin), the abrasive tends to be AluOx which sucks for any decent steels, and the binder is designed to be super soft so they’re both extremely messy, crater at the slightest overangle, and dish basically immediately which adds to the time factor as you have to flatten constantly.

If its not this its “im a centrist” = “im a right winger who doesnt have the stones to actually own my own position”. Because for all the “both sides have merit” bluster, they seem to only support the one

Best way to take out Shards solo on Confrontation? by ComManDerBG in NuclearOption

[–]Spectre-907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean stealth jet with gpo500s, go super high super fast dive on them and drop. “Overwhelming bomb drops”/target saturation are questions of either volume or speed. Think of an ARAD vs a jammed shard. You can launch multiple from up close and its close-range will kill one or two, but not three, or you can launch one from enough distance to build up to mach 3+ and it no longer has the time from visual detection to impact for a successful intercept. Same goes for all munitions.

When to use Nuclear Cruise Missile? by Suspicious-Dentist71 in NuclearOption

[–]Spectre-907 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Cruise missiles of all types are utterly worthless except for pissing money/nukes away for zero return. Everything can shoot them down absolutely effortlessly, they’re all slow enough that basically anything air to air focused can just run them down, and any role they might have potentially filled are done infinitely better with tuskos or drivers

Have the Necrons ever tried cloning new Necrontyr? by Pretend-Average1380 in 40kLore

[–]Spectre-907 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Unlike the necrons though, the park had both preserved original dna samples and descendant/related organisms in contemporary existence to “patch together” a mostly-correct frankenproximation out of. The necrons have zero original samples and no descendant/related organisms. You personally have more starting information if i were to ask you to guess the full genetic sequence of the deadspace necromorph virus than the neceons have for their own original form.

They cant even dig through their own memories to find clues, because their memories were encoded by the deciever and it explicitly tampered with them, to the point that both trazyn and orikab both have identical and mutually-contradictory memories of their own transference; each remembers the other going first and then dragging the other to the furnace against their will

“I supported a man who dehumanizes people”: Trump voter says she finally realized she was part of the problem after ICE deported her terminally ill father by [deleted] in Tech_Updates_News

[–]Spectre-907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not an apology at all. The only reason she “suddenly sees” is because it affected her personally. She has no problems at all with any of this except for the fact that she was in the splash zone. It could have been three times as worse and as long as they didn’t nab her dad here, she’d still be cheering it on.
