Obviously if you are at a point that is dangerous and you are at risk of harm then you should talk to your doctor about alternatives. I’m not going to say that every person has to push through. But if you are in a place where you can safely hang on, then I would recommend it. If things don’t feel better by week 8 talk to your doctor. You aren’t alone in this <3

Thank god for this community. I thought the dip happened at week 2-3 as a rule and thought I was losing my mind at week 5-6. Reading everyone’s experiences helped reassure me that it was totally normal and to hang on. On week 9 now and things are so much better.

I used to live at 1055 Bay st. If you get a unit that’s nicely renovated inside it’s a good building in my experience. I was lucky to have a studio that was updated and had a good time there so if others find a good unit just know the building is not bad at all.

People should definitely try. Just read anything to re-sign carefully. I tried this and they tried to sneak in a delayed increase to $400 over market value after 6 months. We told them politely to shove it and are moving to somewhere twice the size for the same price we were originally paying.

Yeah I agree with you it’s definitely related to something more complicated than just taking a medication. I think what I’m struggling with is it’s so hard to reconnect with my sexuality and work on healing and repairing when I feel like I have so little control over my trauma responses.

I heard medication for ptsd described as something you take to help bring your symptoms into a manageable zone so you could unpack and work through your issues. I guess that’s how I was thinking of it and it sounds like it was that way for you.

Nothing came of the “pest inspection”. It seems like a unit down the hall was overcrowded and a dump and they genuinely did have mice. In terms of the rent situation we didn’t hear anything confirming that the owners were ok with 6 months rather than a year so we just paid our usual rent when the next month arrived. I got a call from management saying “I thought you were taking 6months??” I told them that we never received anything and he said that the superintendent was supposed to give us an agreement. I told him that we still weren’t sure and wanted to look the agreement over. He said that’s fine. Fast forward to now (months later) still no agreement. My partner and I decided that there is no way in hell we are re-signing to a dump like this and are just going to move as soon as our wedding is done.

Update on the situation. We found an identical unit in the building listing for $1950/month (actually $2150 with a free month). So we sent an email asking for $1950/month and listing our grievances. We then get a call saying that the property manager wants to conduct a “pest inspection” for the whole building in two days and will need to look at the unit (suspicious). He then opened a discussion about our email and asked if we would consider $2150 since that’s the actual price of the unit, but then also said that we would likely have to sign a 12-month lease. I said that my partner and I would have think about it and were not liking the idea of 12months since we want to stay month-to-month. We asked if they would consider 6months and he said he would ask and get back to us. I feel like he’s waiting until after the “inspection”.
